This might have been the first gobbler killed in the Pa season. I walked behind the house having no idea if there were any birds there or not. I sat down and just kinda waited to see what would happen and this boy sounded off about 100 yards away. I moved that way about 25 yards and set up off a path. The bird flew down into a field, I called about 3 times and he walked down the path like he was on a string. I shot him at 15 yards. The time was 6:08.

took my good friend adam johnson and his girl friend's 8 year old boy austin henry both on there 1st ever turky hunt. we had a great morning and after missing twice early in the hunt, we got re set up and he put the hammer down on this very nice bird, 1" 3/8 spurs and 10 1/2 " beard. adam did a great job keeping austin calm and walked him through shot, i did manage to call the bird in for him and the best part was video taped the hunt for them both to enjoy for years to come. both austin and adam already let me know they are hooked and asked to tag along with me and my boy on our archery hunts in the next couple weeks.

SPURS

AUSTIN AND ADAM

JENNY, AUSTIN, ADAM

ME, AUSTIN, ADAM

my sons brandon's turkey from last year he shot with shot gun

Well the first day in PA went very well for my brother and I. He called in and shot his bird at 930. 8 1/2" beard 1" spurs 21lbs.. I setup at 1030 in a big field and did some callin ever 15 mins... As huntin time was coming to an end around 1130 I called my bro to hear his story and while I was talking to him, Sure enough over the horizon comes a big ol tail fan... he started heading in to my decoys from about 80 yards out in full strut.. at about 20 yards I sat the phone down with my bro still on the line.. as he stepped into my shootin lane a let out a yelp and let him have it at 10 steps...9 1/4" beard 1" spurs 23 lbs...It was pretty cool to be able to talk to my bro as everything came together, seemed as if he was right there with me...and for us to get a double on the first day was even sweeter...

Jacob's First Turkey

Jacon has been using his bow, but dressed in clothes to keep him warm in the morning made drawing his bow hard. That and the fact that the turkeys seem jumpy this year he opted to use dad's shotgun Sophia this morning.

This nice jake actually gobbled as he came in at 6:30 am. He apparently wasn't sure about the set up as Jacob put the smack down on him as he turned to leave.

Ohio's season ended yesterday, but for me it ended on Tuesday with this guy. Felt good to fill both tags this year!

18lbs - 8 1/2" Beard - 3/4" Spurs

He made for an interesting hunt. We got set-up well before light on the edge of a wheat field and he wasn't too gobbly at first. Once it got lighter and I was talking to him and he started getting really chatty. But of course he didn't fly down into us, he went out and away. So after setting a while longer we decided to move. We went down the field and called and he gobbled right back, but still aways away. So we decided to loop around him and get closer. Just as we were walking away he gobbled and it sounded closer... but na, we started looping him.
We get almost looped around when he gobbled again and yes indeed he was heading to where we just were. We hustled back to our original spot and there he is strutting and gobbling wanting to know where his girl went. We set up about 30 yards into the woods and I told my dad he had better call, because this guy is hot and going to come right in.
My dad hit the call and sure enough he breaks his strut and starts coming. He puffed up a couple times before making a final dash to us.
Unfortunately... rather than come straight in he starts cutting left. The shot is pushing my limits, but I'm confident about it. I take it and I wounded him, he couldn't fly so I was able to creep up on him and put the final shot on him.
For my time of kill, my dad wanted me to put "between 7:10 and 7:15am" I didn't think that was very funny at the time...
