Mr. Hahn,
I apoligize that the dvd's you purchased were not up to you expectations. They are advertised on my website as a video stud dog directory and a piece of recorded history for years to come. As I stated in the beginning of Vol. I, if you see somthing you like, be it pedigree, tree style, mouth ect. give the owners a call for more information.
I am not a professional movie producer, Im a show horse trainer by trade who was raised up coonhunting and to this day at 43 years old, still loves the sport. I do most all the filming in the off season for showing horses which is luckily in the fall and winter.
I travel appox. 10,000 miles and spend several weeks away from my family to put this together. Lots of motel rooms, fast food and fuel. Yes I am on a somewhat tight scheldule when Im on the road, and due to the available time on each video, I choose to use that time to showcase more coonhounds rather that showing a blank screen with viewers struggeling to hear a dog that may be 1/2 to 1 1/2 miles thru the country trailing. I do wish that there was a way to get that kind of footage for every dog on the video but it just cant happen with the time frame I am delt to deal with. I myself am very fortunate to live in an area with a good coon population as is Mr. Haugh, where he can take his time, his spots (meaning he can dump a cage coon across a 5 acre cornfield into a 2 acre patch of timber and then cut 2-3 dogs loose hear the race and even show you a coon...not saying he does this, just an exapmle) and even his footage to show to you, if his dogs ever have a bad night, does he post that video also? The dogs on my videos 1 night to make the impression that they will leave you with. Mr. Haugh, I would love to see your hounds turned loose in the mountains of South Carolina where Stylish Hammer had to go over a mile and over 2 big mountains to get treed, but more than that I would love to see you running along behind them trying to get the audio of their track mouth. WOULDNT HAPPEN...or cut loose in the hills and swamps of Tennessee where I watched Hellbilly work a big hillside of timber, on Barry's Garmin, then skip across a huge cut bean field to a flooded river bottom, 7/10 of a mile before he was struck and in 7 minutes...9/10ths of a mile and 2 minutes later...treed with 2 lookin down. In those 9 minutes I could have had the camera on and you would have seen him for about 3 seconds, then when he got struck and treed, you would have never heard the audio, so I choose to use that 9 minutes to showcase 2 more stud dogs. On Vol.III, I was able to get the locate of a couple of hounds, one is the Tuff Man hound of Randy Maggards, he was down a big mountain along a creek and was probally a quarter away, but with the terrain, it was tough to pick up. As for being close to the dogs, I try to set up appox. 12-15 feet from all dogs when filming to try show the the volume for each dog. It wouldnt be fair to be 15 feet from 1 dog and 30 yards for another, pitch and volume were my goals to show in the footage.
I do hope that Ive not offended anyone in this posting, that was not my intentions.
Mr. Haugh, I have never met you, only talked to you once on the phone. You seemed like a nice man and a gentleman in the short time that we spoke, so Im going to try and do the same. If you would like to sell, give away, whatever...your dvds, would you please start a topic of your own and offer them, rather that piggyback on a topic about my product, running it and the hounds on it down. I dont appreciate it one bit. I have seen your videos and choose not to comment on them. I dont go to the topics about your videos and run them down, all Im asking for is you to do the same. I ran a search on this site and in over half the topics about my videos, you came on board and commented about how your videos were so much better. How about letting the viewers decide. I know that this is a public board and your free to post as you like and if you continue to do as you are, well theres nothing that I can do, therefore this is all that Im going to comment on this post. Im not going to get into a spitting contest with anyone about this, lifes too short and Ive got a life. Nuff Said....I'm DONE.

Brian,

Please know that I have the utmost respect for you, and for your videos. Please know that some of your critics on this post are also some of our staunchest critics.

For one reason or another, a very few coon hunters are the most critical folks around. No matter what you do with your videos, or what we do with our show...there is going to be someone that is darn tootin sure that they could do it much better.

Far and away the majority of folk love your DVDs and understand the purpose and don't seem to have a problem with it. The concept of calling the stud owner and discussing with them, and did they listen to mst of the owners saying that they would take an interested person hunting with the dog?

You and I know first hand the difficulty in filming what we film. The constant battle between "rolling the camera" and "getting good video" is a HUGE difference. In our case, the TV network would reject an episode that we would have lots of hours producing, and lots of money invested in, if we had three minutes of black video to get a dog running and locating. At the end of the day, we have to put our name on our productions, and then put them out for the public to criticize.

You are doing a GREAT job, please don't let a few voices of dissent get in your way, there will always be armchair quarter backs, back seat drivers, and coon hunter critics!

I have never turned loose a coon to make a video. And, I might add that I don't turn loose on a coon feeder either. But, I consider myself smart enough to turn loose at a known den tree at the time I think a coon might have come down from recently to attempt to get a short race so I can get some tracking on tape. To me, that is just being smart. I am lucky that I hunt some places I have hunted for 40+ years, so I might know where the coon is likely headed and can position myself to take advantage of the situation. That is just me and my dogs. I am not on the road having to use what another person provides.

About the only comment I have ever made about Oglesby's DVDs is the lack of coon being shown up the trees. It is not Oglesby's fault, it is a dog power issue. He can't record a coon that wasn't there. As I said before, there are lots of Champions made due to the generous application of the benefit of doubt rule, especially with Walkers. LOL.

I did sell videos in the past. Today, I just do them for personal pleasure. Anyone with a camcorder and computer can produce a video these days. Or, a DVD. It is very easy. I get a kick out of showing my dogs to the public under the meat. When I sell pups, I can show the parents under the meat. Sometimes I go back 5-6 generations with my videos. As far as I know, I am the only one that can do that.

You guys can't spoil my fun. I don't have to make a profit. LOL.

I think some of you professionals should look into some of the web sites that allow viewing videos for money. You might be able to make a buck. I am just going to post my videos for free.

I might add that if you will notice, UKC is posting videos now. I tried to get Todd Kellems to do videos 15 years ago.

You use I, me, and myself every other word. When somebody brags as much as you do and thinks as much of themself as you do, they have problems. It is obvious that in your eyes the world revolves around you. You are right about everything and know everything.

And if you're getting videos of dogs striking, running, locating, and treeing on video then they have to be hot tracks you have turned loose on. (You said it yourself) What's the big deal about showing the coon in the tree. A coon track that hot is no different than turning a coon loose out of a trap and videoing it. Treeing a hot easy coon is not impressive to me!!!

I agree with Vincentk.
I have watched all the videos and have enjoyed them all.I also will say out of all the dogs on the videos I have not seen a thing about any that would cause me not to bred to any of them but I did see things about some that would cause me to want to bred to them.these videos are just ANOTHER TOOL a person can use to help in their choice to bred their female to the best possible dog...thank you Mr.Oglesby for your time and effort and let us know when the next one is coming out and the check will be in the mail.................................
