This one is very true. I had a dog completely stop hunting, it was very aggrevating...the second or third time in a row that he did this I took him home in disgust, but while driving home I decided to give him a look over and have a talk with him. His ears looked clean but when I dug down in...you would not believe the dark crud I dug out of both his ears (one was much worse than the other though). I diagnosed it as very bad ear mites and treated him the next day with some fresh new ear mite/ ear cleaner. The next time out he almost was right back to his old self, and within a few nights he was normal again. I never would have beleived it but, bad dirty ears will surely and very strongly impact a dog's performance.

A long-tailed pup will make a tree dog.

Also i have used this method give two tablespoons full of alum flushed down by water for a snake bite it draws the poison to the stomach and the dog passes it quickly.

I can't see urine being used in any positive fashion. If it's the salt in your pee why not use a saline (contact) solution, or make salt water.

I seen a guy "blow" into a dogs ear one time to get him to let go of a dead coon. The dog about took his face off ! LOL
I don't think I'd wanna try peeing in his ear for fear of getting the same kind of response from the dog ! OUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!

About the knot on the head the walker standard calls for a prominent one so I guess you could believe that means a tree dog! As a BSJ I have observed some walkers without the knot.
Dogs ears slung low track dog more toward the top of the head tree dog.

One way that sounds silly but in another way it doesn't. When a dog has ear problems sometimes it will chew on a tree. Their ears hurt so instead of barking they'll chew. Well if a dog had real dirty ears wouldn't that be considered an ear problem? Thus diminsishing the dogs ability to bark? In my opinion a dog would bark better if he has good ear health.... clean ears! He sure as heck is going to feel better.
