it seems that if a hound hunter stole your dog some else would eventually see it. who would steal a dog to only hunt it by himself? and, if someone wants a dog bad enough to steal it, he is probably a hound hunting enthusist and has other hunters about him. therefore, i would think that if you keep the word out there and maybe a reward, someone will talk and you'll find your dog. was it stolen from your kennel? if so, someone had to know you had that dog. maybe a friend or acquaintance stole it. unless it was peta, which is doubtful, it had to be a hunter and there aren't that many and hound take up space and make noise and they probably have other dogs. so look for people that buy a lot of dog food. i would look for every kennel in the area to see if my dog was there.

Christy,

Sorry to hear of your Hound being stolen, I sure hope that is just a tracking Collar, in that water, and wherever your hound is he is safe, and not injured.
Your in my Prayers.

THANKS GUYS! GOT A BIT OF A SCARE YESTERDAY!

A GOOD FRIEND OF US CALLED AND SAID THEY THOUGHT THEY HAD FOUND ACE RAN OVER ON THE 4 LANE.

IT WAS LIKE INSTANT SHAKING FOR ME.

IT TURNED OUT IT WAS NOT ACE. IT WAS A FEMALE THAT COULD HAVE PASSED FOR HIS TWIN SISTER.

THE FEMALE HAD A COLLAR WITH A PETSAFE TAG ON IT. SO, WE CONTACTED OUR VET AND TOOK THE DOG TO HER. SHE SCANNED HER AND SHE WASNT MICROCHIPPED. SHE WAS GOING TO CALL THE PETSAFE NUMBER AND SEE IF SHE COULDNT TRACK DOWN THE OWNER.

I SO HOPED IT WASNT HIM BECAUSE I WANT TO FIND HIM ALIVE AND WELL, AND I ALSO HOPED IT WAS HIM SO I WOULD HAVE SOME CLOSURE AND NOT HAVE TO WORRY ANY MORE AND WONDER IF HE'S NOT OUT WANDERING THE WOODS STARVING TO DEATH OR GOD KNOWS WHAT.

Don't discount what Rip mentioned. Many a hunting hound has been "rescued" by some misguided nut-job of a granola eating treehugging idiot that thought the tracking collar was a "shocking collar" and thought they'd relieve ol Fido of that "cruel device"...and unfortunately, having WCU there close by there are plenty of treehugging college kids around dumb enough to do that.

Either way it is sorry as hell and I hope you get him back soon!

THAT'S WHAT I THINK HAPPENED.

I MEAN, THINK ABOUT IT. IF ANOTHER HUNTER WAS GOING TO TAKE HIM:

1. THEY WOULD HAVE TAKEN COLLAR TOO. WHO CANT USE AN EXTRA TRACKING COLLAR?

2. IF THEY WANTED TO TAKE HIM AND THROW THE COLLAR AWAY, THEY WOULDNT HAVE LEFT IT ON. THEY WOULD HAVE TURNED IT OFF. THAT WAY NO WAY TO TRACE ANYTHING.

I FIRMLY BELIEVE IT WAS SOMEONE THAT THOUGHT IT WAS A SHOCKING COLLAR.

I JUST HOPE AND PRAY HE'S STILL ALIVE AND AT SOME TREE HUGGERS HOUSE WHERE HE'S GETTING FOOD AND WATER AND NOT OUT WANDERING THE WOODS STARVING TO DEATH.

THERE IS ACTUALLY A "BLEEDING HEARTS" COMMUNITY NOT TO FAR FROM WHERE ACE GOT MISSING. THEY ARE HARDCORE ANIMAL PEOPLE. WE R INVESTIGATING THAT RIGHT NOW.

If the bleeding hearts people realized that in the US it is the hunters that do more to save our environment and natural areas then most people.

Good luck finding your dog.

young hound stolen

Christy:

If he was picked up by a non-hunter, perhaps they took him to a local vet to be checked out? You might call the vets in the area to see if anyone has brought in a "new" coonhound. Just a thought.

Good idea. The local pound here takes dogs to the vet that get injured, hit by cars, ect. Maybe they do that in your area as well....It would be worth a shot!

I DID THAT AS WELL. OUR VET, DR TAMI SHEARER HAS ALREADY NOTIFIED EVERY VETS OFFICE SHE HAS CONTACT INFORMATION FOR IN WESTERN NC.

WE ALSO ALLERTED ALL THE ANIMAL SHELTERS, RADIO STATIONS, IWANNA, NEWS PAPERS, YOU NAME IT, I'VE MORE THAN LIKELY BLABBED TO THEM.

HOWEVER, KEEP THROWING OUT IDEAS! I CANT THINK OF EVERYTHING, MAYBE SOMEONE HAS AN IDEA WE HAVENT DONE YET!

WE ARE PUTTING OUT FLYERS TODAY.

NO. WE HAVENT. THE COLLAR HAS MOVED ABOUT 50 YARDS. GUESS THE WATER FINALLY GOT SWIFT ENOUGH IN THERE TO MOVE IT.

THE SHERRIFF'S DEPT HAS PRETTY MUCH WASHED THEIR HANDS OF US.

WE WERE TOLD YESTERDAY THAT THEY DIDNT HAVE ANYONE THAT COULD DIVE AND GET THE COLLAR. IT WOULD HAVE TO BE DONE THROUGH RESCUE SQUAD.

WE WERE ALSO TOLD THAT CASES LIKE THIS NEVER END UP WHERE THEY FIND THE DOG AND THAT UNTIL THE DOG IS FOUND THERE IS NOT MUCH THAT THEY CAN DO. BUT WE CAN DO WHATEVER WE WANT TO DO TO TRY AND FIND HIM OR GET HIM BACK. BUT IF WE DO FIND HIM TIED UP OR AT SOMEONES HOUSE THEN WE ARE TO CALL THEM AND LET THEM HANDLE GETTING HIM BACK SO THE PERSONS CAN BE PROSECUTED.

Yeah...that wouldn't work with me. If someone stole my dog and I was told where they were. I'd make a midnight run and take my dog back. Whats the thief gonna do...call the cops and say a dog they stole was just stolen from their yard?

Have you tried going to the pound and look at what they have? I lost 2 beagles a few years ago and called the pound and was told they didnt have any hounds there. I went down to look for myself and found my 2 dogs, they had them for 3 days. If the folks running the place arent hunter friendly they wont help you
