I'm tired of hearing about "Human Rights" in reference to terrorists. They plan everyday on how they are going to cause catastrophic events with our country. I could care less if they strip them naked, pull "college pranks" on them as they did at Abu Graib or waterboard them. We haven't had a catastrophic event since we started interrogating them. Now our Intelligence networks are sitting in fear, doing nothing for fear of imprisonment and the terrrorists are loving every minute of it. When the next event happens (and it will ) I hope you liberals suffer singe marks on your backside from it. Until it strikes close to home........

Truly - You still haven't shown me where any of their demands was for fixing the problems you say they have. All I hear them demand is money.
Where do you get all this info about over fishing their waters and such? You got any links to the info you've described? Or are we just supposed to take your word for it?

I can understand defending your own water/land , but to go several hundred miles out of your way to do harm to others ? That's not defending , that's attacking. And should be handled accordingly.

a few excerpts and a few links:
he trappings of success may be new, but piracy has been a problem in Somali waters for at least 10 years - when Somali fishermen began losing their livelihoods.
Their traditional fishing methods were no match for the illegal trawlers that were raiding their waters.
Piracy initially started along Somalia's southern coast but began shifting north in 2007 - and as a result, the pirate gangs in the Gulf of Aden are now multi-clan operations.
But Garowe resident Abdulkadil Mohamed says, they do not see themselves as pirates.
"Illegal fishing is the root cause of the piracy problem," he says.
"They call themselves coastguards."
snip
t has been reported in the past that wealthy businessmen in Dubai were financing the pirates.[remember bush was gonna allow the sale of our ports to dubai in a deal brokered by the carlyle group whose members include pappy bush and bush family atty howard baker?]
these excerpts from bbc:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7650415.stm

and from huffpo:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/eric-...i_b_190004.html
and a few excerpts:
S Secretary of State Hillary Clinton just laughably called for seizure of assets of Somali pirates. She seems unaware the Somali fisherman turned pirates don't own Swiss bank accounts or New York apartments. Somalia is one of the world's poorest nations. The pirate's biggest assets are old outboard motors that power their wooden fishing boats.
snip
The second cause of piracy has to do with fishing, the mainstay of Somalia's coastal inhabitants. Chaotic Somalia has been unable since 1991 to monitor or police its extensive coastal waters. Somalia has no navy or coast guard. Its waters have become a major illegal dumping ground for toxic waste from around the globe.

This lack of protection has allowed factory fishing vessels from around the globe to come and strip mine Somalia's once rich waters, leaving very little for Somalia fishermen. Eighteen years of ruthless, uncontrolled fishing has depleted all major fish stocks in Somalia waters.

AGAIN- I AM NOT TAKING THE SIDE OF PIRATES- I AM ONLY POINTING OUT THAT THIS PROBLEM IS A LITTLE MORE COMPLEX THAN OUR MEDIA IS POINTING OUT, AND THAT WE CANT SOLVE THE PROBLEM UNLESS THE SOLUTION TAKES INTO ACCOUNT THE ROOT CAUSES.

absolutely. all active participants in piracy should face the death penalty. as someone who has spent a fair amount of time boating- boating is dangerous enough without a bunch of criminals hanging around. in the same token-anyone caught dumping toxic waste in the high seas- execution time. thats our water too!

throughout the first 2/3rds of the 20th century italy and britian ruled somalia. there are so little resources that they even tired of being involved. the country was taken over in [i believe ]1974 by a dictator named barre. barre played the US and the USSR off of each other trying to get as much aid as possible from either one. barre also played Saudi Arabia into the mix. then in 1991 barre cleaned out the banks and fled the country, leaving it to revert to its old style of "warlords and clansman". it should be noted that barre had over 50,000 of his political opponents wacked, and had a terrible human rights record[torture, etc]. despite this both US and USSR openly supported barre. why i dont know- access to shipping lanes?- 25% of all oil is shipped past somalias coastal waters. the country is still littered with leftover military hardware left behind by US and USSR. the country has almost nothing for natural resources-besides seafood and a little sustenance farming they have little to build an economy on. despite no significant resources nearly 10 million people reside there.

it should be noted that this region of africa has recently been in one of the worst droughts of over 100 years.

guess thats why they are so defensive of their fishing hole.

While I do believe that executing pirates is appropriate, remember it will do us no good-killing 100 pirates a year wouldn't begin to touch the problem when you have nearly 10 million people nearly starving to death. and a culture that has lived and died by the sword for hundreds of years isn't going to be dissuaded by a few hundred executions of pirates who can make massive amounts of cash on a regular basis. and furthermore, while this is a big story here- remember they just survived a govt that wacked 50,000 fellow countrymen---3 pirates whose heads exploded from the bullets of US snipers is nothing to people who live in such desperate conditions.

ps-hope ya'll had a good hunt tonight- 3 on the outside here.

Seems Simple Enough

1. Dead Pirates never board a ship again.
2. Mother ships at the bottom of the ocean don't carry different Pirates to sea.
3. Somalie's stuck on shore can't become Pirates.
4. All the mind numbing questions about Why,When and Who caused these Somalis to become Pirate in the 1st place don't matter. Because the Priates are dead.
