Gary,
My favorite dog of all time that I have owned I called Sadie...She was directly out of Hardwood Patch (didnt care for him as a coon dog, but produced a lot better than him) and her mother was directly out of Dohoney's Boone....Open spotted, well a couple liver spots and a touch of red on her head about 45lbs...decent mouth for a female...nothing overly loud, but not yard dog either...nice pretty bawl on track, opened according to the track (could actually run an older track and drift it out, but I would say she was more of a medium nosed dog). Pretty locate and a steady 60-70 barks a minute tree dog that was actually 85% accurate or better ( best accuracy i have seen/owned). What that means is if I go to 20 trees there WILL or was a coon on the outside 17 times...that included slicks and dens which rarely happend...I learned alot from this dog such as how many dogs get the benefit of the doubt when they tree a den....If at all possible I find a way to check the den for sure....got a real taste hunting other dogs of dogs runing tracks backwards...when they tree a den and you climb up there and shine in the hole there is no coon to be seen!!! Can anyone relate??
She could be beat pretty easily any given night as if a super quick strike and tree dog hits some hot coons or pop ups, but if we hunted 10 times against 1 dog she would be the dog i would pack....wasnt the fastest on strike or tree, or the flashiest on tree but was sure enough the best dog I have ever owned.
