I see that this is an old post but thought I would share a funny dog box story with you
Our good dog box has been stored for the last 6 or 7 years we decided to pull it out when we got back into the dogs So my Son and Daughter 10 and 13 yr olds thought it was funny to climb in the box and hide . I have told them to stay out of it cause there could be fleas ticks ect... but they are country children and really aint worried bout that kinda thing lol . So I ride to the restraunt about 2 miles from the house with the kids and go in to get the pizzas I had ordered took forever came out finally and got in the truck ask my oldest daughter where are the other kids she is snickering and says they got tired of waiting and walked home well I knew that was bs cause they would get tore up for doin something like that but went along with it and threw the truck in gear and took off told my oldest lets just give them a nice lil ride home keep in mind the box in up against tail gate so the kids cant get out unless someone lets the tail gate down I took a lil detour on the way home down a back rd and made sure I hit plenty of bumps lol my oldest is laughing her butt off and we go on home when we let them out they tell us when we hit the dirt rd they thought someone high jacked the truck and they were gona be trapped and kidnapped lol they were already tryin to figure out an escape plan lol and my 13 yr old daughter was ready to call peta cause she said it is not comfortable riding in that dang box lmao they havnt offered to climb in the dog box again

I asked my dog the other night what he wanted to be hauled in and he told me he would like to have a nice box that was comfortable and pretty but he knew he could live with less and told me he wanted me to save money and he was willing to sacrifice comfort as long as I would spend that money on a new four wheeler. It made me so proud of him I got him the nice box any way. I think he might have used reverse psychology on me. lol

funny

i had a ford escort wagon i used for work, was really cheap to hunt out of also. Dogs loved it they would hop in the back and rest their heads on the back of the seat. They liked it so much if i turned them loose and said go load up they would be standing at the back of the car not the truck. Even took em to black and tan days one year in the car. wish i still had it.

Better to use a plastic barrel than plastic money.

My guess is take one barrel and put a divider it the middle and doors on both ends. Or teach the dogs to get along.

Its not to keep them from fighting, hunting pup and old dog.when I see a coon on the bank turning the pup out only.Have you tried to keep two dogs in same side when they both smell a coon 20 yards away and keep your balance with the waves while fighting to get one out and not the other and while trying to steer around stumps, rocks or whatever else is in the water without running up on the bank to fast.Still the best way I've found to get pups on hot coons.Has anyone used pvc pipe to hold the barrels to each other?

Thanks Todd

Sorry if I am repeating anything, I didnt have time to read through the entire thread...

I have bought several of these real close to home off Craigs list. I have gotten the larger ones from free to $25..I have also picked up a couple from local flea markets and trade days for $5 to $20...The free ones sometimes have a broke latch or maybe some the screws might be missing, but they come in real handy for spare parts...

The easiest by far in a boat would be two 8" to 1ft chains with snapswivel. one srewed behind the front seat and one in reach of you with your other hand on the throtle.
I have two little chains screwed in my toolbox incase I don't want to load the box.
