I have lived in a creek bottom all my life and we have found hundreds of arrowheads over the last 40 years of collecting them, we have found some clay pipes. We have only found one axe head. We have seven springs within a 1/4 mile of the house. A friends wife has a doctorate in anthropology, she came an looked at some mounds, eleven of them close to the biggest spring and she thinks they are teepee/lodge mounds, built up to keep water out. I need to figure out how to post a picture, we had a person call us up, they were excavating, building chicken house pads and came across literally a hundred or more round limestone "balls", they are about the size of a volleyball, they obviously have been carved into as round a ball as they could. I picked up four or five of them after I promised I wouldn't let anyone know where I got them. Does anyone have an idea what they are or what they might have been used for. My daughter has the best eye for arrowhead hunting I've ever seen, after we plow she will go out and find a bunch of them, the ground has been worked so much over the years it's hard to find a perfect one.
The neighbor has found a cannon ball in the creek, half of a rusted up calvary saber and a piece of confederate horse buckle.
