The #1 fault I dislike the most is the fault of not getting coons treed.

It doesn't matter how good they are in any other way, if they have this fault, the rest doesn't matter.

I can't stand

I can't stand for one to quit a track and I hate to see one run a track to a tree or hole and turn the track around backwards. I have culled several for back tracking and quiting tracks.

Shows a lack of brains to me !

I can think of many things I won’t tolerate in a dog but the worst thing is a mean dog. No good for nothing in my book.

1. MEAN
2.Shy
3.Lazy
4.Slick
5.Weak Mouth

In my country you have to have a dog that will go huntin'....If he goes deep, he has to have a mouth you can hear,.....If he's real deep I want him/her to stay until I get to em, even if it takes 2 or 3 hrs. When I get to the tree he better have the meat !jmo

Laugh at me if you like

but a hound has to be pretty bad for me not to find something good about it. Did I say I love hounds?
Most have some redeeming characteristics and a lot of character. Most of them make me laugh, either at them or myself, or both. A lot of times, patience can cure faults like trash running, slick treeing, or barking in the kennel. Sometimes it can even cure shy or mean, but not always. A dog has to have multiple faults that I can't make any progress with before I'm going to give up on it, or be unpredictably mean in ways that I don't think I can manage.

1. Mean dog
2. A dog that won't shut up in the kennel, Like MJ said I don't mind if they bark when I come outside or when they think something is around them or runs by them, but barking to hear their head rattle ticks me off.
3. Lazy Dogs, they just don't have the heart for hunting. I'd rather send a dog down the river 50x then have a dog stand by me. Atleast you know the slick treeing one wants to hunt. You can almost always fix slick treeing with enough time.
4. trashy, I can't stand it. I mean don't get me wrong I can guarentee you every dog will tree a possum sometime in their lifes. But they best not make a habit of it.
5. Stupid, you can't put brains into them. It don't matter how hard you try.

For you people who said shy you can fix a dog of being shy, trust me I did it. You just have to spend enough time with them and gain their trust, become a friend and eventually they'll come out of it. Trust me Wy used to be one of the most shyest dogs you could find and she's not now. Just ask dad. You still can't yell at her for any reason but she isn't shy no more.
