Oakridge, I got a question for ya then. Some years we get an early snow and some of the lazier farmers let their corn stand in the field till spring. Some of those fields are littered with dead deer and turkeys from eating corn loaded with fungus so what gives? I still think altering a plants genetic makup MAY alter its ability to fight off diseases and I fear the same may be true with dogs.

Mold, which is in itself a living organism is not affected by the genetic structure of corn. The simple fact is that you have discounted the ability of Mold itself to become resistant to our attempts to control it.

Warmer clients, high humidity and moisture lead to increased mold. Could it be possible that the wetter than normal conditions may have lead to the inability to harvest the crop, hence the corn in the field, hence the higher mold, hence the "dead deer"....????

There is no proof that genetic engineering of corn leads to a higher mold spoor crop.

I guess what I'm saying is does it lead to a higher suseptability to the affects of fungus. My wife has a lot of allergies one of which is mold spores. I can be in the same area and be unaffected by it and she goes to sneezing nonstop. Can this weakness be bred into plants and animals? Nobody knows and that is what bothers me about people who want to play God. Joe this might be a better example: We had a problem with aphids and someone in their infinite wisdom decided to bring in the asian beetles to get rid of the aphids and I think we all know how that turned out.
