Im Glad Quick won,

Im all for Single Registration, My Best hound, Is Single Registered,
His Sire and Dam are both Unknown, He is a Beautifull Walker hound, and probably the Best Coondog, that I will ever have.
Is he Full Blood? I dont know Maby Maby not, but if a little Cross Breeding can produce more hounds like him, and Quick, Im all for it.

Genetic Mud, grows good Coondogs. LOL

Just thought about something,

Remember when Tennesee Hardrock won the PKC world Championship a Couple years ago, now Quick wins the UKC World Championship.
HMM, Percentage wise, the Cross breed, and a Single Registered hounds seem to be holding their own lately. LOL

Compile a list

Maybe we need to compile a list of all the hounds, any brand, that came in single registered since say 1940.

I wonder if anyone has shared with Sky how the old boys that imported the Gascogn hounds, circa 1900, got those hounds to track with speed (European hounds have a tradation of being leash led) and tree?

Guys,

I think you guys are kinda usin' Quick as a poster child of crossbreeding. Well according to her owners she is full blooded Treeing Walker...single registered and crossbred aren't always the same thing, sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't...

I have another question. IF the white on the chest of the B&T's came from walkers (which might be true in some cases, but many old, old, old B&T lines have those small white stars on their chest and a lot of tan to boot....) ---supposedly according to whoever made that point to "pick their nose up off the ground"...then where O where are all these Walkers coming from that only have about 10-15-20% white on them and the rest deep shiny black with pretty tan trim. The foundation Walker dogs were open spotted 90% white hounds...look at the pictures of Missouri Major and Boone Boy on this post....hmmmm?

I guess they had to add some B&T to put some brakes on those foxhounds so they wouldn't "run nose up" past all the trees with coons in 'em LOL....

Just yanking your chain boys...no breed is as pure as the driven snow....we all know that...

Also Bruce C. ...those lists make a good point. I do have one question though. Don't you think English hounds have the fewest restrictions rather than the Walkers. They register a wider variety of color.

Crossbreeding is interesting...but I am not sure about adding the crossbreds back into the registered breeds...maybe a seperate Crossbred book kept open and allowing them to compete like PKC does????

This has been a widely debated topic for a long time, I do know that!

I would say Walkers are the most crossed up. Everyone knows Johnson's Banjo was half bird dog. Not to mention Tenn Lead, the foundation of the walker pack, was a B&T.

Coarse then you got the Pitt bull, cur, and god knows what else in the Plotts.

As well as 90% of the B&T's having as much white as some walkers. Wonder how they got them from standing on there nose all night???? THERE HALF WALKER

we are all huntin mutts, just some purer mutts than others. Let em breed the cross breeds, the only thing stopping them now is a little white lie. Some will, some wont.

DNA, DNA, DNA, WHAT A WONDERFULL THING.

well they may be crossed up..but they have produced coon dogs...unlike some dogs lol

That would be a big list.

Its only been 50 some years since Walkers, Blues, and English were all in the same breed. Thats a drop in the bucket for genetics.

I personaly dont have any cross breeding plans, but I dont care if someone else does. If your the one that feeds em, breed em. If you dont want one, dont breed one or buy one. Kinda simple huh.

Only thing I ever produced was a pain in the a$$ daughter, and a smart a$$ son. There momma is from within the breed though. Maybe I should have cross bred.

Maybe there were more, they just didnt register the litter. Never thought about that.

There was that one night in Richmond...............................

and another night in Petersburg..........................................

and that week in Muskogee...............................................

I had to check the female to see if everything was right before I signed anything and when I did I must have used the wrong kind or color of ink.

it is a very simple formula

1. female in heat

2. breed her to at least five good studs of different breeds

3. dna the pups to prove which is the sire of which pup

4 . register said pups as crossbreeds

5. in a year you shall know the exact genetic mud formula in which will bring you success.

6. hire gary miller to handle said pup in the hunts .

7. sit back and rake in the trophy's and added purses
