That is great! Timber has done his part in the breeding pen. He didn't get a lot of Grnite females to breed and he still reproduced very nicely on different types of females.
I'm glad we have 5 breeding left on the ole dog.
I'm hoping Lumber fit the bill and Sounder! Time will tell

Terry took Spud off of Thorn x Lace and I had Lumber! We we turned loose in cattle and this time Lumber seem OK with it. The calves did chase him some. We made a tree near a fence row but no coon seen.
We loaded the dogs for a second drop they struck a track and worked it a good ways and finally treed in a huge black oak but I couldn't find a thing. It was bushy enough but who knows
Third drop they stuck off the lead with deep banks and plenty water. Lumber didn't want anything to do with getting to the other side of the creek but ole dad got down there and gave him a a toss and he swam and treed right on the other side. It was a den.
We called it a night.
I made one drop on the way home with Lumber alone he went about 700 yards and came back. By that time it was raining pretty good so I came home.
I'd say not a good hunt.

Lumber and Image put the meat on the limb last night. Lumber is casting quickly now and getting struck quick. He might loose a few barks if he gets behind on the foot race but. Shuts up and gets struck right. Good locator and seems to be fairly quick on making his mind up. Could be fun this spring. Time will tell.

Mu football and the start of Mu Basketball is getting a lot of my time. I have season tickets so I will have to make myself go during the week a few nights. Can't wait till season Nov 14th midnight. Lumber will get a lot of alone time then when I can give him coons.

He treed a coon at 500 yards then he pulled up treed at 300 yards and had another. Not bad. He hunted nice tonight. I didn't let him tree long before I got to him and hissed him on and the treed very hard. It was a good training night for him. His reward was a lot of petting on the tree and he seemed to like that just as much.

He is doing good. But he needs work and hunted and coons. I may have him at Grand National Reunion in the spring if all goes well.
This season will let me know for sure. Hope the weather holds out so I will go. I won't hunt much in the snow or super cold. But I will give it a whirl.
I need to get Sounder primed up and try to maybe get him finished. He has to take some bumping and fang pressure or split somewhere else. Great coondog but we shall see.

I took him alone he got 400 yards barked twice and treed with the meat! We didn't get another one treed or a bark after that. Deer where everywhere!

One drop treed a double with Lumber and Slug! At this point my hunting is done! Did something to my calf jumping over a ditch. I heard a pop and I can't walk at all. Thinking of heading to the ER!
