All i've got to say is that you better wear your walking shoes if you're hunting a smoke pup. Mine is almost 9 months old and has been hunted maybe 12 times just to keep him in shape. I haven't done anything other than turn him loose and let him do whatever he wanted. I've never fooled with him at the tree. I've already had to walk in 3/4 mile to get him by himself. I don't know what he was up to but he isn't afraid of the dark and he's gone every step of the way with my other dogs since the first time I ever took him to the woods.
We went tuesday night and I took him since it was a little cooler. The first drop Swag (Smoke x Candy) and Clyde (Bean x Trackman female) made about a 800 yard circle. Clyde came back so I caught him. Swag on the other hand made another 600 yard circle in the opposite direction by himself??
One the second drop Clyde got a hot track going. Swag fell in with him and even treed a little in a big pine. On the last drop, Swag struck ahead of clyde!! He runs with a big screaming bawl/squeal right now and once I get him settled in on the tree and actually knock a coon or two out to him, I think he'll be on cruise control.
That might not seem too impressive to some of yall but for a dog that's been hunted as much as your common house dog, it isn't bad in my book.
BTW, he's almost 70 lbs!!

Jazzy is doing well and starting to get that uncomfortable look ,The pups will be born in NY but We can bring your Dads pup with us when we go to Lee's to bring him his pup.
