Our coon season came in October 15th but gun season for deer comes in today. I encourage these deer hunters to be sure to fill all their deer tags this year. Some of them are as crazy as coon hunters. Why I have heard em say stuff like-"I don't think there are as many deer on our hunting club." I asure them, as I have every year, that when they blow up the earth there will be cock roaches and deer running all over it! It is the" shoot anything that moves mentality" of these weekend warriors that concerns me. There are benefits for us though. I have found that they do not like to go any where without marking their trails with some kind of reflective material. When you shine your light it appears they have been every where. With the increasing popularity of 4 wheelers there are not many scratches being put on those shiny new jacked up 4 wheel drive trucks parked on the side of the road. Time was when you found a deer stand you could bet there was a road close by cause they were not going to drag that varmint very far. Oh well-wish em well. Told you before we call DDT -deer, ducks and turkey down here. In lite of all this I hope Mr. Jimmy Yawn and I are setting off to do what I used to try to do at least once a year. Will let you know. hey all hope all is well!!!gettin ready for a plkeasure hunt tonite with bluetickers,oughta be fun !!!! our season doesnt come in till 10 nov and we shut down 10 days prior so maybe i can catch up on work during that time but i doubt it!!!ole buzz looking good here lately accurate as all could be. he is breeding a triple rambo female today from flora!! finally get to use him on something besides my females!!!he has produced 39 pups as of this last litter.

Welcome mat!

The South is noted for its hospitality but there are places up North that rival anywhere in the world for me. If a "Camelot" of coon hunting has ever existed then its residence is 6657 Hoag Rd Albion, Michigan. For years the one place I know of where everything felt as if it was dedicated to coon hunting with Blue dogs was right there. Mr Jimmie Yawn and I have both been regular visitors for years. Traveling there together just made this visit all the more pleasureable. On any given night a virtual who's who of the Bluetick world were with us to hunt. Ed Mead every night with Lady. Terry Tucker with Boomer. Scott Phillips with Maddy. Brent Carter with Little Birdy Too. Young dogs were worked on coons and scent during the day and others were hunted with us each night often split treeing with the meat! We even sighted Larry Harvey just long enough for a quick hello. Understand Bruce Gamble from Al. was at Larrys'. The weather was unsesonably warm for most of our visit. Big thank you to Terry and family for wonderful meals and letting me watch Georgia do its thang to Florida. Also to Ed for well everything. Scott -I will be giving you regular updates on her divine madness. Last but not least Jimmie-Thany You!

Little Birdy Too

Recently had the pleasure of hunting with Brent Carter and his Little Birdy Too- 6 Again x Gr Nt Ch Pounding Blue Birdy. Jimmie Yawn who now owns Birdy was on the hunt as well. Birdy Too is a littermate to Ed & Lance's Hope female. Brent & Birdy Too have a UKC 1st. Hopefully these two littermates are well on their way to earning their Nt Ch degrees in short order. That makes 3 more dogs I know about that should be finished out of 6 Again. Spoke by phone with Jerry Shewmaker about Bo a littermate to Rejet. Last night Bobby Carter and I made a quick round since the wind died down for the first time in a couple of nights. The coon we treed made the 31st in October for me-saw a lot more that we did not tree. This is certainly no record but is the average I shoot for-one per night/ per month/per year. How many of you actually do this or even come close? Doesn't sound to hard-average 1 coon per night all year long-pretty simple right. Not for me but that is my goal. Fact not fiction-write it down, keep records-see just how many you do tree and then total it up at the end of the year. Go get em and good luck!

no argument there CW but i shoot a lot more than that, im hopin for 200 agan this year. but by the looks of bdog power penny and buzz will be wore out by then!!!!i like to run 2 to 3 sets of dogs anight. buzz and a pup then penny and a pup then sammy and a pup then do it all over again!! we hunt from dusk to dawn opening night that is my thriller for the year!!!buzz has been lookin really good lately coon almost everytime!!!

One advantage to keeping records is being able to look back for paterns. This time of year is particularly good for pecan orchards. Her "Maddness" and I took a solo venture to an orchard and she treed two singles and I saw another sitting up-so as Arnold says "I'll be back!" Neglected to mention Terry took Gr Nt Ch Tucker's Hilltop Joanie, Rejet's dam one night while I was up there. Pretty sure I have hunted with every dog in his 3 generation pedigree. It is nice to see how much resemblance there is in all these dogs hunting style as well as their looks. Joe let me know how you are doing. John keep Buzz buzzing and let us know when that female starts showing. Eric-you still making plans for romance next time she comes in? Hope things have settled down-work wise for you. We stopped by Lance's to look at Hope and her pup from Rejet on the way to Brent Carter's. Scott has a new litter of pups on the ground-wishing him good luck with them. Kenny Jones called from Texas and we played catch up. He could not make Flora this year as we had planned. All of you who know Kenny realize what a fine person he is and we hope to see him at next years Fall Roundup. As soon as it gets dark I'm going to try an make some more memories!

May Flower

Was fortunate to put another Nt Ch win on May Flower (Gr Nt Ch Jet 5 Again X Gr Nt Ch Blue Bio Blue Flower) last night. May Flower is a half sister to 6 Again. The trees that counted she had 1st and 1st on-675 plus.

Rejet

Rejet won Ch in the bench show at Newborn, Ga. Saturday. I left from there heading to Dale Parkers'. Dale's litter of pups from Raggs X Lace are as good lookin and healthy as I have ever seen. We had a good visit, only treeing a few there in the backyard. Michael Cagle is talking about running down here for a hunt this weekend. His pup is out of Dale's Grinder dog and we would like to see if we can put him on a few coon. In the past we have had pups look outstanding and Internet Wonder Dogs look less than desireable. Having a me too champion combined with the ability to pitch your dog off others may help you win hunts but it will not tree you coons or cover up faults when you got them out there by themselves. Each night is different -right! My old hunting buddies said don't blow em up too much-they will bust. Had quite a few calls lately, always enjoy hearing from folks. Used to get quite a bit of mail but letter writing is a lost art-will keep ones from people like Ed Meeks and Vinny Orlando. John Vanderbeck and I would get cassette tapes from Vinny, also loved those. Visit with our seasoned veterans,by that I mean service and coon hunters-tell em thanks- it might be you one day if you are lucky.

made it thru lol, we treed 14 singles opening nite quit at 5 am wow watta night it was we had funky monkey II,penny and sammy buzz pulled a cple old slick tricks and penny had a cple too but all in all good night. had buzz in copm hunt didnt win came in w 400 plus no minus and 4oo circle but thats the breaks, buzz had another pup in missouri get a 1rst last nite giving him 2 now and he is a sc also hope he has a nc soon
