Hunt

Rain and wet bushes mad for a not so pleasant hunt last night. We ended up having a good hunt after all. First drop we cut BB and her son Major down a big hardwood holler. BB struck followed by Major. They trailed about 200 yds and just blowed up on a tree. It was foggy but I finally spotted their coon. Next drop we cut them down another holler and they went 800 yds and came out on a gravel road so we just caught them up. Moved to a different spot over on the creek and cut them loose. Ole Major struck and BB was a close 2nd. They left out burning up that track. We had to walk to keep within hearing as they were 600 yds in just a few minutes. They left the hardwood and crossed a pasture and hit a deep ditch that runs into the luxapalilla creek. I was beginning to doubt it had rings on its tail when I heard the distinct sound of a coon squalling. We rushed into them to see a huge boar coon standing in the creek with those two track driving blue dogs circling him. He had done put the ivory to both of them as the creek was red with blood. I must have boosted their confidence because when they seen me coming ole Major dove back in on him. He got a pretty good throat hold on him and BB grabbed the less dangerous end!! They soon got the best of him, but not without some battle scars. Major had a ripped lip and both had several holes in their ears. I plan on putting Major in some hunts and see how he reacts in a cast of dogs. Below is a pic of my 5 month old pup out of Jobe and Magic. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!! Darren

What is Major's pedigree I must have missed it on your thread.
You are one hard hunting man I can say that.

I live for the coon/dog fight. I rather them do it. I just stand and laugh and encourage them to go back in and get the butt's handed to them. That's what I did last night.

Major

Major is out of NtCh PR Frost Hollow Blue Bell ( BB ) and NtCh PR Ross' RTO Dealer. Ole Dealer is out of NtCh Elam's Bear Creek Bawler. Bawler was out of GrNtCh PR Choctaw Blue Rambo and a Lazy J Arkie Chief female. Rambo was out of Hawk.
BB is double Super Jet 6 on top and Tree Slammin Hillbilly on bottom. I will get his pedigree up soon.

Here is a pic of the only pup I raised out of Uchtman's Blue Lady and Razor. She is 5 weeks old now and is a solid little chunk. Maybe she will be a good one. HUNT

FULL moon didn't make for a good hunt last night. It got cold in a hurry. I had a cage coon and we cut him loose and waited about 10 minutes and cut a pair of young dogs loose on his trail. We wanted to get an easy one on them. WRONG!!! That sucker left here and had no intentions of climbing. They ran him nearly a mile in the bottom and eventually just lost him in all the water. We cut Major and Rickett loose. They left hard and got deep. Major struck followed by Rickett. They were moving rather fast and didn't sound right. We drove around and Major was coming in a hurry. He crossed a gravel road and hushed. He soon began cold trailing down a small creek. He done changed tracks on me. I think they ran a deer for a short period and he jumped tracks. Better be glad but me and ole tritronics will test him out now!! Rickett got slung out of pocket and soon was trailing in the bottom. He never got treed and we called it a night at about 12:00. Sure makes you appreciate the good nights. Cotton is in heat now, so the pressure is on Major and BB to get the grease on a limb!! Ya'll Keep'em Lookin' Up!! Darren

Hunt

Hunted Major in a UKC hunt Saturday night. Didn't win the cast but liked how he operated. His locate proved to be an asset in a cast with 3 other dogs. Had first tree on a slick tree that hurt me in the end but he got deep and got one on a limb after that mistake. Got beat by another young blue that just stayed out of trouble. I liked the fact that Major took charge in the cast even though he missed the coon on one tree. Gone get him in a few more casts. Y'all keep'em lookin up. Darren

HUNT

We went for a little while last night. Took BB, Major, Blade and my pup Cyclone out of Jobe x Magic. I had a caged coon and showed Cy his first coon. He instantly blowed up on that cage and got fired up good. We cut the coon loose and it ran a little ways and went up a tree. Shook him out and let me and the pup fight with him for a while. Done him some good. Loaded him up and cut BB, Blade, and my buddies dog Dolly loose. I sold Dolly to them a few months ago but they haven't hunted her much. They went about 200 yds and Blade came back it to the truck. BB and Dolly went 450 and Dolly struck. Something wasn't right and BB was soon at the truck with a wild look in her eye. Dolly located in the ground but quit and came out. We cut Major loose alone and he went over 800 yds and came out on a country road. I caught him up and we moved. Next drop we cut BB, Major and Dolly. They struck and track and worked it to the left for about 50 yds, then came back right and moved ti out god. They got the track up going good and loaded up treed. We got to the tree and I had treed up the same tree more than once. It is a den and a coon hotel. We called it a night and we will hit it again Weds night. Got to take off tonight. Getting ready to head over to the Winter Classic. Going hunting with Gary Uchtman and Rupert Morgan. Looking forward to the hunt. Saturday I am going on up into Arkansas to pick up a pup out of GrNtCh Pr Smokey River Mad-Dog John II and GrNtCh Pr Mad-Dog Blue Shelly. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!
