I have to choices Sweet Springs or Dixon for a UKC Hunt tonight. I got my dance fix last night so I'm good.

No hunting Saturday I will be at the MU football game. I will have to make the best of it tonight.


I will be at the Fall Round Up all three days in Flora IL next week.

Hunted with my buddies Chris Baker and Tom Wilbers
They hunted Gr Nite Slick and a young male off Boomer
First drop dogs struck almost at same to and drove a track and worked and worked finally Slick hit tree with Sounder just seconds behind they had the meat
Next drop all dogs struck and drove a track Slick shuts up and gets ahead and bang he treed. Sounder slip off went 230 yard behind Slick and had his coon. The pup opened but that was about it.
Last drop Slick and Sounder struck and worked a tough track and bang treed about the same time. Got to the tree and the had the meat. We called it a night.

Daniel that is 6 Grand Nites and 8 Nite champions I have made so far and counting. Maybe I'm doing something right. I don't know.
I guess if I added the Grands to the Nites that would be 14 Nite champions and 6 Grands Nites. Hmm sounds better.

Worst night ever. Couple of split trees no coons seen tough trees to see but if the coons are there it makes it a little easier and a drain tile.
Dogs couldn't find a track so they went tree shopping.
Back to reality. Hope that is all out of the way before Thursday

You got that right. I'll be honest at one point before last night if you would have told me if I turned these two dogs loose together and not see a coon in a tree after 3 dumps I would have bet money on it.
4 split layup trees one drain tile and one tree together. Only two tracks. Hard pill to swallow. I believe a couple of trees was hackberrys.
They did pick big bushy trees that were hard to see good but that is the only saving grace. I think they missed. Heck the one track might have been a grinner. Sounder came back acting all different and he doesn't do that. They are lucky I couldn't find out.

Thanks for taking some pictures for me. I hope they turnout. I will use a few for the ads for BBCHA AND BBOA Bluebooks this year.
Lumber sure wants a coon to fall. I think he is going to be a nice treedog when it is all said and done.
I wish it was seaon on that one tree then we would know for sure.
Those are big coons down there and I love hunting it. That second one was easy to see way up there.

We took Lumber and the GrNite Slick dog. Both fired in there about 900 yard and took a track to the river. No tree made.
Next turn just going through fall trees and and thick brush no tree.
On the way walking out we counted 8 single coons setting up and two or three crossed the road.
Not a good night at all for the dogs. They hit a couple of trees but didn't like them enough to settle.
We didn't get to the woods till about 8:30 so not sure when they moved but I guess they enjoyed listening while the hounds passed them up.

I just took Maggie and Lumber. They treed two doubles and caught one on the ground. Much better night for sure.
Hard to take pictures and praise dogs and all that by yourself but just trying to get them all fired up. What a nice bean field race.



Not the best video but you get the idea
Maggie doesn't bark much once you get to the tree she wants to hear the coon fall. She is a good treedog before you get there.

No she isn't. She hurt her hip maybe by car accident not sure but she favors it a lot and carrys that back leg a lot.
I know she is a pretty fair coondog but I don't think she can go 2 hours of hunting. If so Lumber Pedigree would even be more impressive. I will talk with Steve about that.
