Wife found my squaller.

We are still unpacking into our new home and my wife found one of the things I was wanting most. My old MITY MAX from back in 93 is now on the rearview mirror of my truck. Look out coons here we come!

Oaks

I was planning on going for sure. However, with the weather or lack there of we've had I wasn't able to hunt Kitty as much as I had hoped. So now I'm not sure. If I don't come up to Oaks then I'll be coming up if I make it through the Zones. I plan to come up either way sometime around the World even if I get knocked out at the zones. I'd like to go up there just to see things at the World Hunt. Looks like I'm going to have some other pups to sell. Some around here ran me down and said they wanted them aren't returning calls and others that I turned down becuase I thought they were sold. Now looks like I've got two males left. I'll give ya a call this week.

About 80 degrees last night.

Kitty didn't care took her by herself and decided to bring this guy out. I was proud of the hard work Kitty put in on him. One things for sure hunting at least every other night is sure making her look pretty nice in the woods even in record heat and dry.
First one went pretty well. The second one pulled all kinds of craziness going sideways, through multiple trees with vines connecting, across a big clear-cut and all over the woods. Took us 30 mins. to tree him but I got to see some good dog work. Kitty finally treed in one big huge tree. It took me 30 mins. to find but I was getting rid of this guy.

Daisy's foot is doing fine.

I sure appreciate your help. She has the worst luck about things happening to her feet. She just hunts so hard and far and I never know anything is going on until I'm back at the house seems like. She's doesn't care what happens she's hunting, long as she's loose. Luckily, she didn't have any thorns broke off in there so I didn't have to do any surgery. Right now I'll mainly be hunting Kitty though until after the Zones and hopefully the World Hunt. Sure hope to see you and all your crew with Sherman there to.

I was thinking of carrying Daisy out tonight but.....

I remember what happened last year when I went to show her at Oaks. She ran the pads off her feet after just a few nights from hunting so hard. So since I'm thinking of showing her I don't think I'll hunt her until after Oaks this time. I do plan to carry the other Twister pup tonight though. The other night when we got a coon he went crazy when I brought it back to the pen, does the same on a cage coon. So I'm interested to see what he does, in the woods. Had to wait until my new tracking collar came in though with the way these guys hunt.

Glad to help out.

I'm pretty protective of what comes out of my kennel but I know you'll do him justice. Glad to get him in your hands and look forward to what will come from these guys. As natural as thier mom and dad were and as tight as the breeding is they should be a super nice group of boys that will hopefully help out the breed for years to come, especially if you want treeing and go power. Of course the loudness of most of these pups is just icing on the cake.

Been hurting to bad to hunt the last several days.

That 30 mins. of looking up the tree for that coon the other night has had my neck so sore it literally had me feeling sick yesterday evening still. Now it's time to head up to Oaks. Thinking of bringing Kitty and Daisy along for the ride. Still haven't decided if I'm showing Daisy but they both love to ride around. Shoot I might try to pleasure hunt some while I'm up there.

Well had a good time at Oaks.

Got to meet some new friends and talk with several old ones. I think next year I'm going from here on out. I keep making it up there without really planning to. Got a new light 28 Volts Bright Eyes belt light with the Lightning LED head this thing is bright. I was talking with a guy there and he said that his was lasting 2 weeks of hard hunting. Found my Mity Max squaller, got a new 28 V light, and I've still got my Wicks boots and coveralls I bought new before I went to college. I got the equipment ready, now it's time to finish out the hunting and see how the UKC World Hunt Zones go.

We lost

Ciscoe III Friday. Mike was loading him up to go to the cabin for bear season and he went into convulsions and died. As of yet we dont know why. This is the 4th dog we lost this year to various reasons. Thank God I have Ciscoe IV here even though he is just 7 months old. Hes the last of our line we have. He is doing good for his age. Hes made 1 complete run as was treeing good. Ciscoe III was our best dog and at 9 he was still going good. This was a hard hit but we know bearhunting is hard on the dogs and they dont live as long as other hunting dogs. Ciscoe loved to hunt and would let you know if you thought about leaving him behind. Dozer and Kid have some big shoes to fill now but they will do fine. If we were to lose all the Redbones I would quit for good. I am bummed out and almost ready to say I've had enough. I become attached to each and every dog we have and it sucks to lose one. We have been lucky over the years since we have never had 1 Redbone not turn out. Take care

Yeah that stinks.

I've lost some good ones though the years. The ones I hated to see go the worst were the ones that never got the chance to really prove what they could have been. The only one that really knew what they were was me and others that got to see them around here or at a few hunts. At least Ciscoe had plenty of time to prove what a nice hound he was.

When you called I was glad to know where he would be going, if it worked out. I have just been so busy with the move and working around the place that placing pups got put on the back burner. So when you called that got me in gear to get some of that caught up. I'm glad you got him and just remember he's a young guy that I haven't messed with much. Like I told you, I do that once their older at all so they don't get attached to me but to the ones that buy them. Good luck with him and I look forward to hearing about him and you're right he is sure bred right. Let me know when you come up with a name for him. Thanks for the time you're going to put into him. Had "Fun" Last Night!

Kitty didn't have to go to far struck in between a 1/4 and a 1/2 into the woods. I was hunting in some terrain simular to what I saw in Wisc., only thicker. Kitty swung it around pretty quick ran it like a deer and hit a den. The den was about 20 ft. tall and 4 ft. straight thru the center with junk clogging up the bottom. I found a slot in the side just big enough to get my hand and pistol in. I was hoping the coon didn't latch on to me. I wanted to make sure that she would tree well on a den and that she still remembered us getting those too. I shot 3 times and was hitting the Mity Max when I heard moving. Ran out to look and sure enough he was coming out shot again and knocked him off balance and out of the hole. Shot to more times as he was climbing back in and he jumped. Keep in mind I was shooting at this thing with the back sight broke off my pistol from where my wife dropped it. I was out of shells, in the pistol, and the coon took off running. It got up in some super thick bushes near a small lake/big pond so I had to literally crawl several yards in there on my hands and knees. Right as I got in there Kitty started treeing even harder and the coon came out about 4 ft. from me on my hands and knees still. Then Kitty and the coon tied into it so I couldn't get a shot in with my rifle. They then swam across the small lake/big pond tied up again and treed again. After I walked all the way around the small lake/big pond and came thru some more super thick stuff the coon jumped out again and swam the pond ending up in a hole in the ground. By the time I got to her after going all the way around again she had him dug up. We finished him off and after all that running around Kitty was ready for round two, three, four, or five. However, I was hurting so after all that crawling I had to go back to the house. Needless to say though it was interesting.

Kitty's got the thickets and woods straightened out, now it's time for hunting fields

Kitty just keeps clicking along looking a little better each night. Since I've found my Mity Max squaller I've see the coon in every tree she's made. Trying to put some finishing touches on her before the Zones. That's where it'll all come together. Looks like I've got about 70 dogs to go against, to get thru. We'll just take em one cast at a time though. Should make for about 17 to 18 cast.

Spider Bite?

I had something bite me that has my forehead swelled up about a quarter inch. It's about 2 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches tall. Not sure what it is but it's had me not feeling so hot and off balance. I ended up not going Sat. or Sun. Went last night though. Kitty shot through the fields struck in and treed, like usual. Didn't see the first coon, in a den, but I didn't carry my pistol. Got a long piece of vine though, stuck it in there, got him upset at me. He was grabbing the vine so I know he was there. Plan to make it a long one tonight and then give her a break, until Fri. Look out Zones here we come!

I don't know what it is for sure but that's the only thing I could come up with that would do something like that. Looks like my wife got mad at me and hit me in the head with a pipe.

It's going down some today but it happened several days ago. Hopefully, it'll be gone by this weekend. I'm just glad that Kitty hasn't had any issues.

Packing up.

Well took her out again last night. More of the same, shoot across the fields, get in the woods, get treed. I ended up getting ahold of one of my buddies and plan to stay with him and his family over the weekend. Plan to leave out in the morning get there in plenty of time and get signed up. I think we're ready guess we'll find out tommorrow.

Me and Kitty couldn't get on the same page at the same time.

Fri. night I made two bad calls one of which was plain dum but Kitty looked great. Then I was right on the money Sat. night handling her but Kitty went south on me. About 30 mins. in she either ran over or grabbed a skunk and couldn't really smell the rest of the night. Only the second one she has ever been into period since I had her and of course it had to be at the Zones.
