Here is the rundown from Thursday and Saturday.
Thursday.
I didn't even get to Jon's till a little after 9, so we cut loose and both Rusty and Jack hunted together for about a half mile and then decided to try it on their own on both drops. At the end of the night we had to call them back in, they were still goin' on to try and find something different and something to tree.
I was really impressed with the progress that Rusty had made. He looked good and hunted well, and even found his independent streak.
Saturday.
If you were in this area you know how Saturday's weather was. I straight up poured from 6pm till about 9:30pm. I was in a three dog cast and Jack did a good job not getting into trouble off of the word go. The other dogs started a track, but never finished. Jack wanted nothing to do with it and ended up getting split and working his own track clear out of hearing. He ended up out of hearing long enough the guide suggested calling time-out so we did.
We relocated and tied it again with 40minutes left in the hunt. Well, Jack and the 4year old dog cut through there and that is how the night ended. I ended up having to go and get Jack about 1/2mile across a holler and the other road. He was hunting something up to tree.
Oh well, the weather was rough. Me and Jack are going to stay in the timber and try it again this weekend in Elkton, KY.
