Hi,

Thanks Cliff. I just love showing dogs. I always have. I love good looking dogs. I get tagged all the time for just having show dogs, lol.

I can't feed an ugly dog. I just can't. I really like your female, littermate to Sid. I love her head. Hope you r having a good season.

The Hunt

Hi Jason,

I bet, if you could have seen this old man, stumbling around in the dark, you would have laughed hard. I did,lol!

The Hunt

Hi,

I loaded Cadillac Jane in the dog box about 230am the other morning. She had dried up enough after raising her puppies, I wanted to get her out.

Went to a little wooded creek bottom and turned loose. Jane trotted off and in about 30 minutes I heard her open. Waited another 20 minutes or so and I heard her open righthanded. It was a good half mile in and 1/4 mile over to the right. In about 15 minutes, she opened with that roaring locate, " Come get me." She was several hundred yards deeper, from when she last opened.

I shined the tree, which was a huge den. I thought I caught a glimpse of a tail... I backed up and it was. That coon was setting just to the side of that den. I squalled, he turned around and out he came. I let Jane chew on him awhile. Told her she did a good job. Sat down in the woods and laid her across my lap. I sat there and reflected back on numerous hunts she and I had taken. All the while petting her and telling her how much I enjoyed her. I just sat there and rubbed her head. She was winded, having not been out since last March and probably overweight like her Daddy, lol.

We leisurely walked back to the truck and headed for home. I petted her and gave her a treat and filled her water pan. She was safe, at home, in her nice warm box. Good girl, Janie.

PS I sat there, in the woods, looking up into the heavens at the millions of stars, while petting my dog. And wondered, how many more nights will the LORD allow me to enjoy these hounds and the sport of coonhunting?

Coonhunting

Hi,

I hope Jeff. I dearly love listening to a good Finley River hound run a coon.

I am holding little Cozy right now. She slept on the back porch with Spanky, out of the rain. She loves to be held and licks your face like Cadillac Jane does.

I just love this little pup.

Hi,

It is with a heavy heart I make this post. I have put it off, but time has come.

Lou was hit and run over by a car. I am sure she had no idea it was coming. She can not hear. I looked for her until I found her in a ditch. I called a vet in and took her to meet him.

She had too many internal injuries and we put her down. I spent many good nights in the woods with her. She ran and treed Rambler style.

Thanks, Cliff. That means a lot. I don't think people knew anything about Lou. Up until last year, I hunted by myself. Wife told me I was too old to hunt by myself anymore and needed to start hunting with other hunters.

Lou was a sweetheart. I miss her licking my face when I bent over to pet and feed her.

Thanks Jeff. She was quite a track and tree dog. I have been blessed with a nice line up of young dogs to hunt.

Sugar Boy who roars like a lion, Iron Man who slips through the woods like a thief, Tanna who manufactures coon and coon tracks, Sadie, who is a little ball of fire and absolutely hates a coon, Little Lill ,who will be a layup artist
like old Zig, and Trap, a track and tree dog in the making.

Hi,

Art and Mike stopped by on their way home from visiting out in Ohio and a hunt they attended.

We had a good visit. I have a place I go, if I am evaluating a dog in all aspects. They had a Finley River dog, Lipper bred on the bottom. He passed.

Took Tanna along and she did her big mouth, track and tree dog act. You just have to drag her off a tree when the coon is there. I really like this female and I am definitely going to put time in on her.

Dick Gray

Hi,

A beloved coonhunter passed away on Dec 17th, 2015. Dick Gray was a valued coonhunter of central Missouri for more years than I can remember.

He was a good man with a wonderful family. I always looked forward to seeing Dick and his son, Rick, at the hunts. They were/are hard working members of Mussle Fork Coon Club. Dick celebrated his 93rd birthday, just recently.

The coonhunting family of mid-Missouri was well represented at services and visitation Sunday. Dick will be missed. It will be a big adjustment not to see his smiling face, enjoying his quick humor, and playing pitch at the hunts.

Ramblin Paige

Hi,

This has not been a good month. Got up this afternoon to feed and found her dead at her box. My Rambler females are old and they don't live forever. She was Lill's younger sister. I loved that little dog. What a mouth for a 50 lb dog. You would have sworn she was 100 lb dog, if you just heard her tree, lol.

I have been blessed with great Rambler females. Paige was in good health. Makes me think she had heart issues. I had just hunted her over the weekend.

You should hear the mouth on this 8 week old pup!!!
Hunted her grandmothers together, night after night. They never ran the same track. It was like having 2 separate hunts at the same time. Those females treed close together lots of nights, and listened to me shoot the coon out and the ensuing fight. They never once left their tree.

The Hunts

Hi,

Had several nice hunts the last few weeks. Its just hard to get to the computer to hunt and peck, lol.

Had a good hunt with Joe Lee. Joe always has a coondog. He has a very nice Walker pup he is hunting. His nephew is as good a young man as you would want to meet.

Hunted with Jim Stacey the other night. Jim was hunting his pair of Blue dogs. Finally had to call it when the high winds and rain came.

I hunted Emma and Jewell a couple of nights. Good hunts with yellow eyes looking down. I just love hunting Jewell. I haven't hunted her for 5 years while she was showing on the national circuit. She was a pleasure to hunt as a puppy and continues to be a pleasure. She can drive those tracks. If she barks up, load the rifle.

Had a good hunt with Mike Umphrey and his pup out of Mr. Jack.

Had the January big and little coon contest at Mid Missouri Coon Hunters over the weekend. We had 24 entries. Everyone had a good time.

I got to team up with Charlie Wyatt. We used to hunt a couple nights a week when we were kids. We had a blast. Good dog work. They drove those tracks. The coons made it home before we could tree them on the outside, lol.

Those tracks were 560 yards, 880 yards, and the last track over a mile. Bud and Tanna ran those cold tracks like hot ones. A Bluetick and a Walker. Just like old times.

Gr Nt Ch Wild Bill's April

Hi,

I bought April from Dennis Montgomery. Thank you Dennis for allowing me to purchase her.

April has been plagued with an ear condition that has affected her performance. Previously, there was no cure. Just a recurrent chronic condition that plagued her. It is extremely hard to perform when u have otitis media. Now , think how bad it would be, if it went untreated? We will try to alleviate the problem with a new medicine and get her back to being that overpowering little dog, she was before.

Can't wait to get her home. That will make 2 daughters of Dual Gr Ch Wild Bill's Boone here. Little Lill and Cadillac Jane are Boone's nieces.

Finley River Spot

OL'Spot is really coming on strong after weining her pumps. Tracking has really been bad lately here in Pa, or the coon just ain't moving, From what I hear. I took spot out Tuesday night and treed 2 then went home, 5am comes early when you have to be at work early in the morning. Took spot out Thursday night had one Den, treed a lay up, and treed a bigun 25+ lbs at .8miles in there. Not a bad night went home after that long walk. Had her out last night and hunted in the biggest coon contest our club has every Saturday.

We treed 2 on the outside, had 1 den tree, and spot treed another lay-up that none of the other dogs ever smelled. Coons was dropping from the sky's everywhere . Hahaha.
