Lee,
To be quite honest I don't know much about what Woody has produced... I'm not sure there are many on the ground either. I bred to Woody because I have a female that suits me in many departments, but, she (IMO) needed a lil more horsepower when you cut her loose, & to be a bit more of an independent hunter. Again, to suit me. I hunted with his littermate Scout a few times, & he has hunt to burn & is really independent, & accurate. I've never hunted with Woody either, but have ppl whose opinion I respect tell me that he would absolutely get in the country "quick". Throw in the fact that he is a good looking, athletic dog, that also came from a cross that produced several with a alot of fire. I needed to add some go, so I bred to a titled & performance paid up hound that came from a litter with plenty of "go" & independence.
Add to the mix that I'm a fan of Smokey River breeding, & both his parents are loaded with it both top & bottom. The female I bred is out of Dancers younger brother, so good or bad, it added Chief x Punkin cross in there 2 more times pretty close.
That sounds logical to me too on the cross. I sure hope he will prove himself in the stud pen. He is about to get back in the timber and I will keep it posted of his performance.
