Sheba 11
I loaded Sheba 11 up about 11 oclock and headed to the swamps. It has been real tough getting on a good track around here lately, but we had got a good shower this afternoon and it was a little cooler tonight so I figured we would give it a try. I had filled the feeders up a couple of days ago and I thought we would give them a try. The first one she didnt strike on, but she went on in about 100 yrs and struck. It didnt seem like a very good track, but she went to work on it. She moved it on out of there for about 300 yrds and was headed toward a black top road. The track was beginning to heat up, but she was getting closer to the road. There is usually not much traffic on it, but it being saturday night a good many people travel these back roads when they have been drinking to stay off the main roads and road blocks, anyway I went around to cut her off before she got to the road, but she had already crossed and the track was getting better. I hated to catch her for she had done some good work on that track, but she was headed into some rough country. There was a cut through road close to where she was at and I took it and caught her. She didnt want to leave that track anymore than I wanted to catch her, but there was rough stuff where she was headed. I loaded her up and we headed to the river. I turned her loose on an ole branch and she struck pretty quick. She moved it in about a hundred yrds and treed. I walked in to where she was treed. I dont know what kind of tree it was, but it must have been 35 feet to the first limb. I couldnt beleive that a coon would take that tree when there was a whole swamp full of trees that would be a lot easier to climb, but I tied her and petted her a little and backed up to where I could see and hit the squaller and there he was looking at me with both eyes. I went back in and petted her a little more and told her we would get him next time. We went on down close to the river and turned her up a slough, again she struck pretty quick and move the track in about 300 yrds and locked up treed. I walked in to her and she was treed up a leaning tree that was covered with vines with several more small trees around it and they were all covered with vines. I really never expected to see this one because all the vines were so thick that it could have went any where in there, but I backed out to where I could see one side of it and hit the squaller and there he was looking through all those vines. I thought about putting it out to her, but with all the vines I didnt figure he would ever hit the ground. I petted her up good and we left him to run again.
