I would like to send congrats out to mr steve pearson and Donnie and Andy for pushing a fine hound in the hunts and Steve for taking time out during his family crisis with his father being sick and sticking to what he does best, and that is making fine hounds for the future generations of young folks to be proud of and to breed to. I would also congratulate Mr Donnie Chapman for his fine handling of Hangman and there cast win at the Grands. Without Steve Pearson finances and the boots on the ground and Donnies superior handling this wouldn't have been possible .Thanks for making fine hounds for us folks to breed to in the future. WV in the house brotha goodluck tonight ..

Steve, Mark,

Congratulations on Hangman's success at the Grand and at the New Year's Jamboree Thursday night!!! It looks like he put on a real show! Those accomplishments are something to be proud of!!

Mark- It was a true pleasure meeting, talking and hunting with you on Friday night even though things didn't quite go as we had planned. We had the pleasure of hunting against Freight Train and Dylan did a great job. If our sport had more hunters like both of you, we would be in a much better place!

I'm glad to see that Dylan made a little noise Saturday night at the jamboree. He deserves it!

Congratulations on all of the accomplishments that Dredd pups have made recently! It looks like we'll be hearing and seeing a lot more and more from you all!!!!!

GREAT TIME AT THE GRAND AMERICAN!!

WELL, I FINALLY GOT BACK HOME FROM THE GRAND AMERICAN AND LETS JUST SAY THE FUN HAS CAUGHT UP WE ME. THERE IS ALOT OF TIRED PEOPLE TODAY I BET BESIDES MYSELF, BUT IT IS ALWAYS WORTH IT TO SPEND TIME AND FELLOWSHIP WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FELLOW COON HUNTERS. WE HAD DREDD AT THE STUD BARN ALL DAY FRIDAY AND IT WAS A BLAST. I GOT TO TALK DOGS AND HUNTING FOR AROUND 9 HOURS STRAIGHT. TO EVERYONE I TALKED TO, I REALLY APPRECIATE THE CONVERSATIONS AND YOUR INTEREST IN JUDGE DREDD!! WE ARE EXCITING ABOUT BREEDING THE FEMALES THAT WERE BOOKED THIS WEEKEND TO BREED TO DREDD. I WANT TO THANK THE OWNERS OF THESE FEMALES FOR CHOSING DREDD TO INCLUDE IN THIER BREEDING PROGRAM.

I ESPECALLY WANT TO THANK STEVE FOR ALLOWING ME TO PARTNER ON SUCH A GREAT REPRODUCING STUD DOG. WITHOUT STEVE, NONE OF THIS WOULD BE POSSIBLE! GREAT FRIEND - GREAT MAN!! HE TOLD US THAT THIS DOG HAS ONLY BEEN HUNTED BY HIMSELF SINCE HE WAS 5 AND HALF MONTHS OLD. JOHN SAID HE PRACTICALLY TRAINED HIMSELF - HE WAS A NATURAL. AFTER HUNTING HANGMAN FOR A WHILE HE SAID HE KNEW THIS PUP HAD ALL OF THE TOOLS AND THE ABILITY TO BE SPECIAL! JOHN PUT HIM IN 1 UKC HUNT AND PUT A 1ST PLACE ON HIM. HE SAID HE WAS TRULY THE BEST YOUNG DOG THAT HE HAD EVER SEEN! WOW, WHEN WE HEARD JOHN SAY THIS, WE HAD TO HAVE THE PUP OFF DREDD. JOHN TRAINED AND GRANDED THE GREAT DADDY OF DREDD, BALL'S STYLISH HICKORY NUT HARRY AND FOR HIM TO MAKE THIS KIND OF STATMENT THIS PUP HAD TO BE GOOD! BUT WE KNOW, IT IS NEVER GOOD TO BRAG OR SAY TO MUCH WHEN A PUP IMPRESSES YOU THIS MUCH BECAUSE THEY CAN GO BACKWARDS AS FAST AS THEY GO FORWARD. SO GUYS THIS IS WHY WE NEVER POSTED ANYTHING ABOUT HANGMAN UNTIL NOW. WE WANTED HIM TO SPEAK FOR HIMSELF NOT US DO THE TALKING FOR HIM. SO WE WAITED FOR THE GRAND AMERICAN TO LET HIM DO THAT AND HE EVEN DID MORE THAN WE COULD HAVE EVER IMAGINED. THIS PUP FLAT SHOWED OUT AND WE ARE SO PROUD OF THE EFFORT HE PUT UP.

First place in Friday's Grand American Nite Hunt went to Judge Dredd's Nocturnal Hangman - otherwise known as "Rage." He's a 17-month-old treeing walker. Nicknamed “Rage,” the 17-month-old treeing walker coonhound is “mild, easy-going, laid back and gentle,” said his handler Donnie Chapman of Rocky Mount, N.C.

Rage was the top-scoring coonhound in the Grand American’s Friday Nite Hunt during which he racked up 812.5 points.

Chapman said Rage – whose registered name is Judge Dredd’s Nocturnal Hangman – is “more like a puppy.”

Rage is also a pup of Grand Night Champion Judge Dredd.

Chapman has been Rage’s handler for about two months now.

Rage has three owners: Steve Pearson, Pleasant Hill, N.C., Mark Risher, Surfside Beach, S.C., and Andy Liles, Littleton, N.C.

The Carolina natives are proud of the young coonhound’s performance and ability to learn quickly.

The men are also fond of the coon-hunting sport that they took a liking to at early ages.

Risher grew up in Harleyville and spent many days hunting raccoons in wooded areas of Dorchester County.

He credits Ronnie Rudd of Eutawville and Clyde Crosby of Summerville for introducing him to the sport.

“They’d coon hunted all their lives and I’d deer hunted. Ronnie asked me to go with him one time and that was it. I was hooked,” Risher said.

Risher’s been hunting raccoons since his teenage years.

Chapman said he “got into coon hunting years ago” -- in 1987, to be exact.

“I really enjoy going to places like this,” he said of the 49th annual Grand American, the United Kennel Club-sponsored dog trials based this weekend at the Orangeburg County Fairgrounds.

Rage’s owners and handler have a feeling their coonhound has the making of a champion.

At a United Kennel Club event held in Arkansas last year, Rage won first place as a Hunting Registered Class coonhound.

He also won in a pup cast hosted by the Professional Kennel Club this past Thursday, Chapman said.

We figured something major came up. We are just glad you are ok. We were all worried about you. Thanks for the congrats! Hangman was a split treeing fool this weekend and put on a big show. Everyone that hunted with him said he was "nice". Judge Dredd and Hangman was the talk of the stud barn. I think Hangman stole all Dredd's thunder on Saturday because everyone only wanted to just talk about him. We did put him in the stud barn for a while Satutday morning for everyone to see.

Again we are glad you are ok. Give me your new number when you can.

It was good to finally meet ya Friday.
Really enjoying my young Dredd dog and highly recommend people try old Dredd out. What I've seen out of mine is tons of drive without company from an early age, plenty of sense, great temperament and just a nice dog to be around. Still got a little work work to do (just turned 13 months) but improving every night.
