Glad to hear about Barley. His Grand-Dad was one of the best lay up dogs I ever owned. Barley's sire is pretty good at it too. Keep ole Barley in the woods and I hope you will have him ready for the Reunion, see you guys then.

Last night Timmy and hunted a new pup we got from Mike Hurt and she is a dandy. Made two turn outs and she opened on track and treed real good with Robin. Shot the last one out and she was not impressed with the coon on the ground.haha She will make a good one. She is only one year old and as natural as they come. We are going to push her pretty hard from here on out. Thanks Mike.

is in Iowa right now and left everything in my hands to take care of while he is gone. So far I'm doing GREAT!! Had a hunt at Paola Ks. sat. night and I missed the dead line by about 7 min. needless to say Timmy will kill me when he gets home.haha

Hunting is getting better this past week. Seems that the sows have been holed up and the boars are starting to move. Our kill season closes this wensday and we got out a few coon to the dogs this past week and a few of them were sows that had some bad rubs on thier backs. Seen it on the boars but not on sow coon this time of year. What a wierd winter. No snow untill last night and it still is only down to 29 deg. Last week was our coldest and we had single digit mornings but it warmed back up to the 30s in the afternoons. Killed more coon this year then we ever have because we could hunt more.

We leave a lot of coon sitting up and don't shoot out every coon that we tree. We will feed a few to the young dogs but after they get going good we gauge it by the dog. Some need a few more down to them than others. We still have some good hunting around us but it does take a coon dog to make it look good.

We will be there. Looking forward to hunting in a new area That I've never been to. Talked to long-time friend, Bob Henning - redbone breeder- & he said it's a good area to hunt.

I agree about it being the best season that I EVER remember. Never stopped hunting more than 3 days in a row since the 1st Sat. of Nov. till the end of Jan. & still hardly any snow. May be a dry summer, but has been a great winter for Iowa. Take care, Ron.

out of Turk thatis doing good so far. Good loud, loud mouth and she is making a nice little tree dog. She is out of Turk X Lucy cross.

Thinking about going to Kingston this weekend and hunt Robin and Lou. Good hunting up there and last year they had a lot of coon.

number 2 with Robin last night at Kingston, Mo. Had a good hunt, no really big scores and the coon weren't moving well.

Danny won the night before with his MO dog. He only had circle points last night. Good club to hunt out of.

Great guys and nice hunting.

Going to hit the hunts hard this next month and keep our fingers crossed.

Robin is one of those dogs that out shine's her handler for sure. I didn't make very speedy calls on her but she carried me through and did a great job.
WE drew a black female that would load a tree and then scream out from there trying to pull the dogs but it didn't work with Robin.

We have a lot of hunts comming up in March so we are crossing our fingers and will hit as many as we can.

Got the pictures of Barley. They are great, looks like he trees just like his ole daddy. Ole Rooster sits on his butt and screams at the tree and he is loud.

Timmy and I are hunting Robin and Lou and they are both looking good. The boars are running and and we are seeing quite a few more coon then I thought were left after kill season.

We have a lot of hunters that came out of the wood work this year and worked on the coon population pretty hard all around us. Nice to see there are still a few left.

Ole Smoke has been in retirement for the last two months but we are breaking him out and going to tune him up for a few of the bigger hunts. Looking forward to the Reunion being right here close to home this year.

Timmy took Robin to Girard, Ks. to a hunt but didn't do any good. The cold snap put the coon back in their dens and it was pretty hard to tree one on the outside.

Jay Pingil and his son Jorden from Neb. and Jimmy and Nathan from Ark. spent the day with me talking dogs. We loaded Smoke, Lou and Bug for a hunt. We hunted Smoke on the first deal and made three den trees. Coon just wern't movin. Went down the road a piece and cut Lou and Bug. Bug opened about 150 yrds in and Lou fell in with her. They worked an old cold track south 350 yrds and then cut west 650 yrds. Crossed a good sized creek and got on the Osage river and treed. We could see the coon walking in.

Had a good time visiting with all of them. Jay took home a little Smoke and she will be a good one. Jimmy and Nathan took home some Big Boy pups, man they were some good lookin little raskels.
