How are the conditions down there? We just had two days of rain/freezing rain .... Snow cover has settled a lot, but still way too deep and hard going for me! Hows the pup doing?? I was reading the thread on the main forum about buying your way in, or growing your way in to the bluetick breed, it made me think about what we talked about when you came up for the hunt. I would like to hear your thoughts on it. The thread has turned into kind of a debate it seems on the type of hounds you want to hunt. You and myself are hunting somewhat different styles of dogs in that you have more of a go yonder, harder hunting type dog, as where I have a check in everynow and again,milder hunting type dog. I respect your knowledge of the breed as much as anyone in the breed. Didnt know if you would touch this subject of not, but I knew you had a thought on it.. Thanks Philip

We have bred our type of dogs for many years and they are what works for us. In our country where we hunt fence rows,ditches and small cornfields it takes a dog to get in deep quick and get treed. According to UKC hunt rules the dog that can tree the most coon in the least amount of time is the winner, and everone likes a winner. Our dogs are not just pop-up type dogs, they can take a bad track and put a tree on the end quick, most of our dogs are extremely good track dogs that will get treed. That is what we like and that is what we feed.......Tim

Sounds like the stud pen at your house has been busy. Been getting in some good hunting although we are treeing alot of den trees. Trying to work all the pups one or two at a time and they are showing good progress on track and tree both. The 10 month old male pups are a little futher along than the female but she is showing alot of improvement. We traped a live coon and she burnt that track up, still needs work on treeing but I think that getting a few down to her will change that.
