We are going to have to get together for a hunt pretty soon. I may not be able to hunt every night like I used to but I'm gonna get back in the woods more than I have been. Went last night and had a good hunt. Trying to get Mr. Blue back in shape and get another young dog or two going this winter.

A big Thank You to Craig Cooper for sharing some of his fine hounds with us here at out kennel. With Craig's gracious generosity we now have Gr Nt Ch Hot'R's Mr. Blue, Ch Nt Ch Stoney Creek's Blue Prodigy here to offer at stud and also Ch Nt Ch Western Blue Gunny is here to hopefully be bred to our Gr Ch Gr Nt Ch Niangua River Mad Dog Ranger HTX sometime next spring. I will be posting Prodigy's 7 generation pedigree on here sometime next week when I get some time. Prodigy is a wide hunting dog with a great track mouth and is an every breath chop mouth tree dog. I've hunted both Mr. Blue and Prodigy some since I have got them up here and they are both really nice hounds that I'm going to enjoy hunting.

Here is Gunny's pedigree. She was bred to Prodigy this year which I'm sure will produce some really nice hounds and I feel she will also cross great on Ranger.

Me and my Mike Elberfeld took Mr Blue, Gunny, and his Ringer dog for a little hunt the other night. Had a slick right off the bat and had to do a little scolding but ended up treeing a couple of den trees and a big boar coon within a couple of hours. Mr Blue and Gunny hunted out to 950 yards and struck the boar and ran it back towards us a little closer at around 750 yards and parked with the meat. Gunny has a really good carrying mouth like Mr Blue and they both have the types of mouth that make them sound a lot closer than they are. With both of them being out of Bodacious, and their tree styles and mouths being very similar, I am definitely liking what I am seeing out of them even though they are older dogs now and not in tip top hunting condition. They can tree coon and make it look easy and are enjoyable dogs to have around.

Craig decided to bring Prodigy back down home to North Carolina so he could hunt him and get him ready to take to the Winter Classic. If anyone is interested in breeding to Prodigy contact Craig Cooper or let me know and I'll help in any way that I can.

Just an update on Ranger. I bred our Beauty female to Ranger in October and we didn't get any pups. I had bred them the year before and only got two pups from the cross. Don't know at this point if it is a problem with her or a problem with him as he bred her normally. If someone did want to breed to Ranger I would be willing to go get his sperm checked at my vets beforehand. I have Gunny here and would love to breed her to Ranger and will have him checked out before I live breed them. If there is a problem with his sperm I will have to decide at that point if I will use one of his breedings that I have stored at nevergone. If anyone would be interested in a pup from that cross please let me know as input on interest would help me make my decision. Here is what the cross would look like.

Pete, that is awesome. I had a good feeling about that cross. Two nice hounds who's pedigrees should have lined up well. I've got two females out of Mr. Blue and Layla that are three months old. Need to let them mature some more but from what I've seen they shouldn't be a problem to get started this fall. I think he has and is going to throw some nice hounds.

Snapper had her Mr. Blue pups last Wednesday. She had a 12 pups and they were 5 days early but she still has 10 healthy pups that are doing great this week, 3 females and 7 males. The females are spoken for, I'm keeping a male and 2 or 3 of the males are spoken for so I should have some extra males to sell in a few weeks.

Gr Ch Ohio Valley Blue Mad Dog Beauty was also bred last Saturday and this Monday to Dual Grand Niangua River Mad Dog Ranger HTX. Ranger is almost 12 now but he bred her twice without any problems so I'm hoping she catches. He sure didn't act like an old dog while he was breeding her and has been begging for more time with her after each breeding. He bred her last year and she didn't have any pups so not sure if the problem was with him or with her but I guess I will know in a few weeks if it worked this time.

Looks like snapper is going to raise 9 pups. 7 males and 2 females. The females are spoken for and 3 of the males. They will be ready to go in about 4 weeks after I pick my male that I am going to keep. Price will be $350 for the males and $400 for the female picked up at my place and they will be wormed and have their first shot before I let them go. They will also be paid up for life in the UKC performance program.

I finally took Ranger to the vet and had his sperm drawn. Unfortunately his time has passed and there won't be any more pups out of him until I decide to use his frozen sperm that I have stored at nevergone. He did breed Beauty twice but I highly doubt that we will get any pups from those matings.

Snapper's pups will be 5 weeks old tomorrow and are doing good. I have verbal commitments on all of the pups but if anyone wants on the list in case of a back out just let me know and I'll contact you if someone changes their minds.

Gunny is in heat now and I am planning on getting her bred tomorrow if all goes as well. I believe this will make a great cross.
