Well I got back home last night, what a weekend! Took Bliss to the 2014 49th Annual Grand American Coon Hunt. Was kinda nervous about this because she has never stepped foot in the swamp, she's from the mountains of east Tennessee. Friday night I had a really good hunt she looked like a million dollars just wasnt seeing coons, several dens. On the last drop she split off and treed a coon the last 51 seconds of the hunt. Won my cast. Saturday night I decided I was gonna go big or go home, I had everything to win and nothing to lose, not gonna lay back and play it easy like Friday night. Unsnapped her and she took off like a rocket and jammed a coon on them turn em out again and the same thing happened, keep in mind I was hunting against 3yr old plus dogs and 2 of them were from that area. There were 3 cast winners in my cast including me so one guy decided he couldnt let an out of state 18 month old female beat him. He already said something about it sounded like they were getting rough as we were walking in to the first tree when we were 200 yds away. That's just the way mine trees sometimes she will have that good steady chop then she will throw some dying screams in there too, that's just the dang trackman side of her. So when I got to the 2nd tree I seen the male dog jump up on her and she wasnt gonna have that, she screamed right in his face and went back to treeing so he said did you guys see that again?!? Mean dog we got a mean dog! He grabbed his dog and they scratched me, during this time bliss took off to the other trailing dog before I could grab her and treed another one right out from under that dog! We got there and I grabbed her and took her back to the truck, I was heated. On just the 1st two trees in the first 38 mins of the hunt I had more points than the cast winner at the end of the night. I was sick, if she would have done that one more time in the 1hr 22mins that was left and won the cast that would have put me in the final 4! Seems like they will do anything to get the best dog out! All of them boys knew who the real dog was that night. All we can hope for is better luck next time. Thank You Darian for such a nice pup and keeping in touch with me. Mike
