I do believe winning the world hunt has lots to do with having a top hound. The top hound can get beat by anouther top hound. However, luck plays into the equation and with more numbers come a greater chance of winning the entire event.
You need to mark those good ditches where you can guide me back to them during the Grand Reunion. The local hounds do have an advantage over hounds from other parts of the country. It may be a handler advantage of knowing the hunting spots. Either way, the local guys seem to do lots of winning at large events. Hope the weather holds and you guys can make it to Columbus in a couple weeks. Then to Altoona the next night. I see Zone 1 has the annual business meeting on Feb 4th.
