Ed Mead had the 3rd pup in the Quail Creek Jet litter. This pup was named Tim and went down south some where and ended up dying (hit by train?) when he was young.
Ed said he started thinking Tim was automatic when he was about 14 weeks old so he took him out into the middle of a 200 acre corn field in the spring and cut him loose. 6 inch tall corn, dry dusty ground. Tim ran around for just a little bit and never opened, but then stopped, threw his head up in the air, and started barking. He ran all the way across the corn field and locked up on a tree with three coon in it. He had "layed em up" from a little over 200 yards away!
Gotta love it when they have the nose and brains together!
