Pups

Hi,

Iron Man's first litter of pups are on the ground. They are very nice pups. I will have pics on here for your inspection.

Iron Man is a son of Ziggy and Ramblin' Jane. Jane is a daughter of Rambler.

Stubbie is the mother of these pups. I seldom mention her, but she is as perfect a dog as a person gets to own. Roger Prater sent her to me as a puppy. She will die here. Hank was her sire and Shanon was her mother. She goes back to Nt Ch Finley River Chief 126 times. Starke's Finley River Tuff is out of Stubbie and Stone Cold Tiny. That whole litter ran and treed. I sold Tuff when I didn't want to, but got him back. Tiny went back to Lill twice and Boomer once. That makes three times to Rambler. Tuff is a nice hound.

These pups should make nice hounds. They are blanketbacked, ringnecked, with BIG heads.

Ramblin Emma Jan 2

Hi,

Ramblin Emma is Sugar Boy's mother. His picture is in an above post . He is a good looking pup.

Emma is a hard hunter. She leaves on the run. She will knock a hole in the dark. She has a loud squall mouth. She can absolutely fly on a track. She locates with a scream, squall, bawl, chop. I can tree her before she gets that first scream out. It is an unmistakeable locate.

When she opens, Mr Coon had better climb, or he will get caught. I love hunting my Rambler females. They are solid coon dogs.

The pic of Emma was taken after she struck a coon in a 1000 acre field of corn and soy beans with woods and a small creek. I turned her loose about 4 am. She DROVE that track through the fields and you could tell it was a feeding track. It left the field and went up through the woods. In a heartbeat, Emma located and treed. She is a nice female, as are the other Rambler females I have.

Putting together Preacher's Walker Hand Book ad. His picture when he won Grands at SWTWA Days at Ada OK is in on a post above. He is one put together Walker hound with COONHOUND blood. Not an inside house broke dog. So is his littermate sister, Sheba, that I also have here.

Hi,

Looking forward to Art coming down to hunt Speed. Speed is Stubbie's younger brother. I will try to remember to take pics. I am the worlds worst about taking them. Too much trouble to take glasses off and put them on. Have left more than one camera in the woods or waded the Salt River and ruined more than one phone, lol.

Hi,

First of all, Tuff was supposed to be running and treeing his own coon by himself and that I would meet you in Kirksville to pickup the dog. Those were the first two lies you told. Tuff would tree on a dead coon that was put up in a small tree in the day time. He was not capable of treeing his own coon when I got him home. He would not even go hunting by himself.

When you realized you would be caught in a lie you tried to back out by telling me that "you and your family had to go on vacation", then it was your "truck was broke down", then it was "you never said you would meet me in Kirksville." I had to threaten you, more than once, with a lawsuit to get the dog. I had to have a friend, who lives in Iowa, to track you down and pickup the dog. I traveled to Des Moines to pickup the dog a month later and reimburse him for pinning you down. I had texted you and told you when he would be there, and he would call you when he arrived at your town, for directions to your house. He called repeatedly and you would not answer your phone. A local hunter that he knew, took him to your house. Want to deny that?

Do you want me to tell the real reason why you could not travel? It is public record in your county.

Jewell was bred to Teddy and did NOT have pups. I can't do anything about that. Teddy is dead. I was going to give you 2 pups out of her litter and still will, when and if, she has pups. That was the deal. EVEN though, you have told several lies since the very short time I have known you.

At NO time, did I tell you that I would meet you with pups. The last text I had from you, you stated you were not coming after pups. That is fine with me, but don't tell me I owe you ANYTHING. Your misrepresentations about the dog nullified any verbal agreement. I should just say, get lost.

The ONLY REASON I didn't sue you, is the fact I raised Tuff from a pup and priced him to a man for several hundred dollars more than any 4 month old pup is worth, thinking he would not buy him. He bought him. He is an integral part of my future breeding program. That is the ONLY material fact that saved you from a lawsuit.

Hi,

Did you get your new place bought? The deposit is coming to you certified mail. You will have to go to the post office to sign for it. I once sent a Priority letter to NC and it took about 3 weeks to get there. I should have insured the letter this time, but I didn't. My mistake. If by chance, the first money order comes, just send it back. Sorry Jewell didn't have pups. The cross on Teddy would have been a great cross.

Is that dog's name been changed? Micky Helms raised a dog they called Melvin, but I thought his name ended up being Sand Man Melvin. He won several big PKC hunts.

not sure...dont know the dog...

its just on my pups papers. He is a nt ch now so he very well could have been a pkc dog and had name changed in ukc.
I was more curious about the carrie dog owned by Minkler.
Either way I bought the pup because of who her daddy was and the good kicker to it was seeing her mom was a grand daughter to Rambler. I have just read a lot of good stuff about him.
What can you tell me about Rambler?

Hi Cripple,

Search Durbin's Rambler on the board. Lots of info available or call me. 573-819-1531. I have been busy hunting my young dogs al lnight every night. Havent taken the time to come to town and post. Sleeping days hunting nights.

My young dogs are doing fine. They are naturals. Doesn't take but a night or two to start them. Great noses with the smarts to use it. Great track dogs, like I have always had. Sugar Boy is the last pup out of Teddy. He has a mouth that will make you turn your head. He is out of Ramblin Emma, a daughter of Rambler. She is a littermate to Kenny Durbin's Junk dog. Tuff is out of Rambler 3 times and 126 times back to Finley River Chief. Kenny Durbin has a young dog out of Tuff's grandsire, Stone Cold. Call him and ask him about the dog. Iron Man is out of Ziggy and the most natural pup I have ever owned. His mother is Ramblin Jane, a daughter of Rambler. I also have his littermate sister, Tanna. She is exactly like her mother in looks , mouth, and ability. Trap is out of Zig's littermate, Dual Gr. Ch. Finley River Crystal, she went from knowing nothing to tracking and treeing in 5 nights. Not treeing just because another dog was treeing, but running the track herself, locating and treeing.

Boys, you can not beat good genetics. Time after time, I have these pups that take absolutely no time to start and are born independent.

Call Art Kiger and ask him about his 2 pups, Fame and Steel, out of Iron Man. Phone 308-325-0375.

I have several pics to put on the board, but I have no idea how to or the equipment to do it. Mike Warlick does it for me and he has been busy. Call me 573-819-1531 and I will send you pics on your phone. Or, look back through Zig's thread to see lots of pics.

Trap crossed on Rambler or linebred either way. You can't go wrong because Trap is in both. I have living proof here. Run and tree coons in January and February. Don't need warm weather or leaves on to make excuses or protect those blank trees.

Trap was bred to Lipper and that is where the Rambler dogs come from. Ramblers sire, Ol Factory, was a son of Dual Gr. Ch. Trap's Finley River Slick. Some pups from Trap and Lipper were Slick, Gr. Ch. Trap's Finley River Pet, Dual Gr. Ch. Finley River Rambo, and Nt. Ch ( 4 wins to Gr) Starke's Finley River Rattler, the fastest track dog I have ever hunted with.

I have been told by people, that Lonnie Mears said we shot those Lipper pups. I have also been told by people,that Lonnie told them, he owned Trap until she died. I have no idea if Lonnie made those statements are not. Only Lonnie knows and he has never denied those statements to me. This should set the record straight. Call UKC and get copies of Trap's pedigree. Order litter reports. Research those LIPPER PUPS. SEE WHAT THEY WON. Lonnie bought entire litters of Trap puppies before they were born.

I raised Trap from a puppy, from 2 Finley River dogs I raised from puppies. Dancer was a son of Dual Gr. Ch. Mears' Finley River Dan 3 and Jane was a granddaughter of Dan 3. Her sire was Gr. Ch. Nt. Ch. Jackson's Finley River Tom. If he had lived a normal life, and Lonnie Mears had not smothered him in a dog box, you would still be talking about him. I sold Trap to Tom Wilbers. Tom owned her from then to the day she died. Lonnie Mears never owned one hair on her. Do your own research and see how many advertised Finley River stud dogs has Trap in their pedigrees or her son, Dual Gr. Ch. PKC Ch. Mears' Finley River Zoom. I named them all " Mears" not to ride on Lonnnie's coat tails, but out of respect. The dogs spoke for themselves. You know that old saying," Live and learn." I did. Gr. Ch. 1995 SWTWA Hall of Fame Mears' Finley River Trap deserves to be in the Treeing Walker Hall of Fame.

I am just an old man raising and hunting the same Finley River Dan dogs I started with 40 years ago.

Here is my story.

Here is my story. returning from Afghanistan, I had orders to send me to Fort Bragg NC. There is where I found the love of hounds. I started with A bluetick, went threw several redbones. Then a good friend of my gave me a 8 year old walker dog, that was rotting away in a kennel with a promise i will hunt him till he dies. He is now going on 11. Now that I have retired from The Army, I find myself out west. (Colorado) I know old Ben doesnt have too many years left and I would love to have a puppy off him. So I guess that puts me in the search of a female. I have always heard that FInley River breeding was some excellent stock. Never got the chance to Hunt with one. But From what I have been told, Has awesome tracking power. So I would love to have a female thats heavy on the F.R. side also has a splash of rat attack, To add some tree power. IMO if Ben has once weakness would be tree power. He isnt loose on the tree but not a every breath type dog either. He straight bawl type of hound. Look forward to hearing from of yall.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your service to keep me free and to enjoy the great sport of coonhunting.

I don't have young dogs for sale. I sell them at 8 weeks. If I have a young dog, it is one I am going to keep for my breeding program.

I cross Finley River on Rambler or Rambler on Finley River. Both strains have old Trap in them. So they are linebred Trap. I have nothing with Rat Attack in my dogs. I have never had to have anything but old blood to produce dual purpose hounds that tree hard and have excellent mouths. Look back thru Zig's thread. They are stand on the tree treedogs that will be there when you get there. You can pack the rifle to the tree as they will have the coon or a legitimate den tree. They don't run tracks backwards.

Hi,

Sheba is making a coonhound. She catches as many coons on the ground as she trees. She is an open trailer with speed.

Sheba won National Treeing Walker Days a few years ago. Finley River dogs can win bench shows at the National level and make quality coonhounds, too. She is a reproducer also. There is a young hound in Arkansas we called River. I think his name ended up being Sex in the City. Check him out. He is a beautiful hound that does a real job on coons.

Sheba is just another example of the kind of dog in my kennel that is a dual purpose hound. That is all I raise and breed for. You can have it all in the same dog. I have for 40 years.

Post a pic of Iron Man on here. I remember he was one sharp looking pup. I just wondered what he turned out to look like?

Iron Man

Hi,

I don't think I have a picture of him. I am the worlds worst when it comes to that stuff. Trying to improve. He is a very nice hound. Cold nose, excellent track dog, that has the coon when he trees. I haven't hunted him much. Most young dogs that had as little hunting as he had, wouldn't even be started. He is the most natural dog I believe I have ever owned. He doesn't look like his Daddy, but he has all of Ziggy"s traits. That is saying a lot, because Trap was treeing squirrels when she was just a little puppy and was a reproducer. She was in Ziggy's pedigree 4 times. Ziggy was a reproducer. I miss him every day. These dogs will probably never be titled because to me, it is a big hassel . As always, if you think I am not packing a coondog. I start hunting when it cools down in October through March, any time after midnight.

breeding sheba to and when. thanks...seen a few pics of her when she won some big shows and she is a good looking sucker for sure.

Sheba

Hi,

To me Sheba is a beautiful hound. She has a big blocky head with outstanding cat feet. She is straight on all 4 corners. She has a very strong back with big muscle on the hip.

I will breed her to Junk, Emma's littermate, that Kenny Durbin owns or I will breed her to Iron Man.

Iron Man's second litter will be here in a couple of weeks. He is bred to Ramblin' Lou. Lou is a littermate to Tom Wilbers Boomer dog who has won several PKC and UKC hunts. He won the Baby Stakes. Her other littermate is Greg Minkler's Snitch dog of PKC fame. Her win record is widely known.
