Took a little hunt with Matt Turner last night. The Prodigy split treed twice again. He's got a mind of his own, does his own thing and prefers to be alone. He reminds me ALOT of Image at that age.Season comes in tomorrow at midnight so hopefully a little fur in his mouth and he'll come right on but really liking what I'm seeing so far. This pup LOVES to get split and could care less what others are doing.

Prodigy and I brought the new season in with Tedd Larger and King(littermate to Legend) tonight.Ended up treeing 6.Prodigy will be coughing up hair balls all day.He split treed twice and looked pretty good, but ole King was putting on a show for the little fella.

Thanks for the hunt tonight Tedd.King is the second one from Matt Turner's line of hounds that made it look easy this week.Went the other night with Matt and Kidd, same thing. Both will hunt where you put them, don't take all night with there business. They know there job and they both do it very well. Two great hunts this week for the pup.....Thanks again guys for letting us tag along.

Prodigy

That young rascal sounds like he will be just fine Tom! Here' s to him keep you smiling!

My young Legend x Turkey Creek/Honeyrun potlicker made me smile the other night as well. With a little luck, maybe the little feller will bring another smile tonight!

Who would have ever dreamed it ... Wood Lot Coons & Blue Haired Potlickers .......... & a smile

Take care,
Vic

Left the Prodigy home lastnight and took Legend up to hunt with Tedd Larger again, this time with Little Lou(first cross off Legend x Lou).We treed a couple together and they split once and both had coon, they looked pretty good.Flipped Legend twice on the way home by himself and treed another and a den.He was happy to get out and feeling good.He still gets wound up and excited when he gets to go like he did when he was a pup....Ole fella is fun to hunt.I plan on hunting the Prodigy pup till the weather gets bad and then I will be hunting Legend and Baby Six through the rest of season.I will show them if anyone is interested in seeing Legend or a pup off of him, just let me know.

It was good to visit with my ole buddy again and a good time as always.Look forward to doing it again Vic whenever you get a chance.

Tom, thank you for having me up. As usual, I enjoyed myself & was tickled to death the Prodigy kept us from getting skunked! The little rascal did it in style as well! Thanks again for letting me dump my potlicker solo a couple drops. He's got the gathering of the real estate part down, but on nights like last night is still work in progress on the meat end. Dens & slicks don't make for plus points or hides in the freezer! LOL Funny thing, when I pulled him out of the box at 3:00 AM after I rolled in the driveway, he acted like he wanted to be turned loose again .......... go figure!

Thanks again & looking forward to the next trip up! I'll try & keep the little feller in that timber in the meantime.

Take care,
vic

I have hunted Prodigy 3 nights this week with dogs.He has run and treed with them and at least once each night, split treed alone and had a coon.Took him again tonight and hunted him by himself with another dog in the box.He made 2 trees and had a double both times. He won't be 7 months old until This Sunday. He will bite off more than he can handle sometimes and I've had to round him up,he has also struck and not finished tracks and came back in,done both tonight, but I don't think I've ever been in the woods with a more natural or easier starting pup.He has a great locate and is an explosive, and accurate treedog with a very good mouth. He is not perfect by any means, but is an impressive pup with a ton of potential.

THANK YOU again to Craig Cooper for giving me the chance to own this pup,I'm excited to see what future has in store for the little fella.

Took the Prodigy to his first hunt tonight,2 dog registered cast hunting heads up.19 degrees with a hard frost and 20 mph winds,oh yea,Bluedawg weather. We seen a coon tonight, looking out a den when leading the dogs back in a section.Cut them loose and Prodigy opens 100 yards in front of us,trails to the right and back behind us,loads up treed on the den where we seen the coon at on the way in.Blew the reads out of my squaller but could not get that thing to come out.Made another good den but that was the only coon we ended up seeing. He won the cast but we didn't have plus points for placement.7 months and 6 days old today....I'm proud of the little fella and really looking forward to the bright future he has ahead of him.

Just got in from taking Baby Six and Prodigy out tonight.Turned them both twice alone and they both treed two singles pretty quick.Coon seemed to be moving good.Baby Six is still sagging from her pups and pretty soft but she looked pretty good. She was 508 yards the first drop and fell treed and one.The second she was 550 and run a short track and treed. Was done in about 5 minutes both times. This little huzzy is a stem winder!! Glad to have the pups weaned and back hunting her.She didn't seem to miss a beat, just out of shape.

Prodigy struck his first one on the edge of a patch woods and run it across a clover field about 200 yards and bushwhacked it on the outside of a big den on the ditch. The second one He struck 40 yards in front of me and run it about 250 yards and treed it.He is a quick learner and seems to be putting things together.....going hunting good alone now and so far has been extremely straight for this time of the year.Planning on putting him up when the weather gets bad but if he'll keep treeing them,I'll keep taking him.So far,so good.

Took Prodigy out for 2 drops again tonight.Cold, windy, and a hard frost down early. He treed a good den and one on the outside again tonight. He has really impressed me this last week hunting him alone with his ability to tree coon in some pretty tough conditions.I don't know what he'll end up finishing out to be,but he is without a doubt, the most impressive 7 month old pup that I have ever been to the woods with.Image was young and started about the same age,but it was Spring when I started him.I have never seen one at this age, this time of the year, tree coon like this pup has.I'm not saying he's a finished dog but he has a head full of sense and natural ability.I believe this little fella is gonna be something special......time will tell.

Took Legend out tonight,it's been a while but he looked pretty good.We ended up treeing 3 on the outside and 1 that we seen inside a den.He was happy to get out and stretch his legs a bit.

Still have 5 Image x Baby Six pups here for another week. All are doing great and enjoying the whole back yard right now as their kennel. They are all very friendly and active pups and some good looking little suckers......Really nice litter of pups. They are all spoken for and I believe they are all going to be given a fair chance at the homes they are going to.Thanks again for all the interest in this cross,I will be keeping a pair of males for Craig and I and we are excited to see how these pan out.

Everything went as planned yesterday.Removed the screws from my leg and doing good so far.Won't know anything for sure until x-rays in about 2 months but the Dr. told my wife afterwords that he had high expectations so hopefully this will get me up and going again.

Been a horrible week of bad weather here this week so the dogs have just been standing. All the pups are gone now and at there new homes except the 2 Craig and I kept for ourselves.Sounds like the pups are settling in good at there new homes. To the ones that got one, please keep in contact with me and let me know how they progress. This is Both Image and Baby Six's first litter and I am curious to see how these pups turn out. Thanks again to the men that were willing to try one out,I think they will be fine if given a chance and I'm really happy with where they were placed so we'll just wait and see.....Once again,THANKS GUYS,good luck with them, and PLEASE keep me posted.

I'm glad you like her Todd.Everyone says the same thing about them. They were all really friendly, and active with no shyness or timidness and very good looking. They all went to good hunters and that is the main thing.....Hopefully they will act as well in the woods when the time comes.Merry Christmas to you and the family and tell DJ I'm still saving to buy Ike but it might be a while before I can come up with the $2,000,000 that that boy priced him to me for.Man he sure drives a hard bargain!!! LOL

I hope everyone had a safe and Merry Christmas. We had a busy but very good one this year and I really enjoyed spending time with the family and hearing from old friends.

Hounds have been up since the surgery the other week but my buddy Jake Lay came up tonight for a few drops. We treed six and two dens with his female and Baby Six.Both looked pretty good hunting them alone and the coon seemed to be stirring a bit.I wanted to thank Jake because the leg is still pretty sore so he did most of the walking and going to get the dogs. It's times like this that you realize who your true friends are. This leg has been a real eye opener for sure. You guys know who you are and thanks again for looking out for this old fat crippled fella till I get back up and going,I appreciate it more than you all can imagine and I won't forget it.
