The stock was fairly easy to put on as well. Just make sure if you get the Nikon P-series mounts you don't get a weaver rail. It has to be a Picatinny Rail for it to work.

This was a good weekend. We had fun, got things accomplished and managed to do some hunting with good folks.

Saturday night we cut loose with four dogs....not planed, but hey...we went with it. Mr. Christmas (Jon's Grandfather) had Dixie, Richard (a family friend of the Christmas') had Sam, and the usual suspects Jack and Jim.

We cut them loose and Jim immediately struck. Jack and Jim worked the track quite a way and eventually the Dixie female put in with them. Jack ended up taking that track away from them and scalding it down the other side of the holler. Jack treed and Jim came in and treed as well. Jack did a great Job being belly up on that tree with all of the distractions from Dixie and Sam boo hooing and running all around. Jim did a fine job as well.

That tree was leafy and massive...and as it is with my luck it touched (by limbs 4inches in diameter and larger) at least 4 other trees....so we worked with the other dogs and eventually collected them up and went on.

Pics from the first tree on Saturday

Now from there we cut them loose again and Jack, Jim, and Dixie put in and ran one into the ground. Shortly there after they ran another track up in a big ole den tree...so here we were two trees in and no meat to the dogs....

Then the fun began. Jim and Dixie decided it was fun time. They ran wide open across the top of the holler while Jack had was hunting by him self. We got over to Jim and Dixie and then we were a little over 800 yards from Jack. So I called and called and he came on towards me.

Well on his way back Jack struck in and to make a long story short ended up treed and got some back up from the Sam dog. Jon and me walked down an incredibly steep gravel road (which neither of us can figure out how they got the gravel on it) down to a nasty thicket and grown up field.

Jack and Sam had three coons treed up in a triangle shape. We couldn't have been prouder. We got them both on the closest one to a clearing and shot it out. It did them both a world of good.

Night 2 (Sunday night)

This night started much the same as Saturday....with WAY more dogs than what we should have had....or were planning on.

We ended up with five dogs in the timber at one time. Now to save you the lengthy story here is the nitty gritty of it.

Jack got split from them and treed WAY down the line.

Jim did a BANG UP JOB and got treed despite all of the malarkey going on around him. It was another tangled up mess like Saturday night....but he gave it the what for. I was proud of Jim for his maturity in that situation.

Here are some pics of Jim from Sunday night.

I would like to note that Jim was the youngest dog in that group of four that went that way and he was the ONLY dog to tree and hold it.

I'm hoping and praying that you don't need that many shots before a coon falls out! LOL

Sorry I couldn't resist.

I couldn't agree more Kent. Jim rolled in Saturday night and grubbed that track by himself with no help at all. The other 2 acted like they couldn't even smell it. Then the old dog backed him. I was very proud.
And Kent you forgot to mention that Jack was bouncing between 3 trees with a coon in each of them.

I had a great time campin and spending time with the Wiley family.

Your's is way cooler than mine with that stock! I will start looking for one. These rifles are amazingly accurate. I also love the fact that they will shoot CB longs. I just aim at the eyeball and out they come with one shot. One 7 round magazine will last me a week.

Last night was a good night.

Me and my son, Zavier, took Jack out. We cut him loose and he struck a track about 100yards in. He started working back towards us. About that time Andy Sloan showed up with his Daisy female. He cut her loose right on top of the track that Jack was already working. She took it on and located. jack flew down the track and treed with Daisy in a set of three smaller trees that were flat out bushy.

We cut them loose and Jack went hunting. Daisy did a loop and went back to the tree she had left.

Before she could get back to that tree Jack fell treed again. This time in a big ole tree. We walked Daisy up to it and she set into treeing right with Jack. I never did tie Jack out and we shined that tree for quite a while. He just kept on clicking them off.

We ended up finding the coon WAY WAY up there in a fork. If Andy hadn't had his LED spot light there is no way we would have caught that coon moving. That Ruger 10/22 flat put a hurt on her. Two shots, two hits. The second shot sent her flying down through the air.

She was very much so alive when she hit the ground. They fought it well and I just eased up there after a bit and ended it for sure.

Zavier did a great job trampling through the woods and the thickets. Never missed a lick and never even offered to whine or carry on. Just kept on Soldiering on. I was proud of him. He sure wasn't afraid of getting right on top of the action either. lol He was right there encouraging the dogs to fight the coon. I'll post pictures this evening when I get home.

Hey Richard. I do have to say that I like the design of your magazine more than the one I purchased. How does it seat into the weapon? If it is a nice solid seat I may purchase one.

The Butler Creek one isn't bad, but I think it is a bit shakey for my liking.

It is nice and tight. It is a Ruger BX-25. I also have 2 ten round magazines that I carry hunting. The 25 round mag is just for playing. As I said, I only have to reload the 10 round magazine every week or two. I called and ordered a stock.

Took Jim out by himself last night. First time in awhile. 1st drop he was slow to go huntin but o boy when he did go, he struck in quick and grubbed a track in little over a hundred yards located big checked the tree then went on about another 50yds and another locate, checked a big circle on the Garmin and came back to it again with another locate and another check. On the 3rd long bawl locate he changed over and went to a nice chop. He was on a small tree that went up into 3 big white oaks. There was a opossum sittin high in the little tree and he was gnawing onthe bottom of it. We couldn't find anything else.

Next drop he went in about 50yds and came back, milled around a little and hit a track along the edge of a corn field. He ran this coon like a old dog for a little over 650yds and located in the ground.
All in all we had a good hunt. Its been awhile since I have been able to get him in the woods by himself because I always got somebody wantin to hunt with Jim or Roxy, but he is comin on good and showed me a lot last night.

Gator got a good dose of "HOT" coon last night. Him, and the old dog Rex found one about 350 yrds in on a creek that has A LOT of old storm damage but we found him in a silloute tree. 4 bullets and he finally came out of it like a 25 lb flying squirrel! LOL, he hit the ground with a THUD and took off running. Gator "stumbled on his track first and then bayed him in the field until Rex showed up. Rex got a mouthful but this old boar coon was ready to fight, as Gator moved in trying to get a piece and help, Rex was tryin to get a better grip and off he took into the thick under brush. Ol ricky found him some tight cover in a hollow blown over tree on the side of the creek. I let them dogs fight him a little in the hole but called them out and went on as the coon wasn't coming out any time soon and I didn't have my axe or chainsaw readily available! Very good learning experience for the young dog. He is getting better every time he is turned loose.
