Some people like it some don't. As long as the dog has ability I could care less if their monkey faced or not. And since out of the 2 litters I have had out of my male only 2 dogs turned out not monkey faced guess I'll live with it.

Just a note

I remember all too well when we bought Bullet people thought he was so ugly! It spread like hot fire though, that those little ugly puppies were treeing coon at an outrageous early age. He was past on once because he was too white! When the people that had three of the finest females that passed on him actually saw him they said " What dog is that"? They said, " I thought he was white"! They were told this from a person that wanted them to breed to their male. Wow!

Those same people that thought he was ugly started wanting the pups the most! I really thought this was funny. But, with all respect instead of bringing stupid to the table we provided them the best pups that we could. And I'm proud of what Lee and I did for the betterment of the breed. Toney, Lee, Warren, Joe Rimber, to mention a few of many, like Tom McClary, and those good hunters from up there, knew what we had. I will never forget when Warren talked me into buying Bullet he said, "he will be the next blue dog from Oklahoma that is put into the Hall of Fame".

When Warren Haslouer tells you something like that it's for real. He knew dogs.

That is always neat to look back at. Just a few minutes before we rounded everyone up, James McClary had just left with GrNtCh Runnin Gun. I wish we could have caught him for the picture as well.

Roger, I will tell you 100% honestly that Nitro was the easiest, earliest starting pup I've had. I got him at 5 weeks old, and at 4 months I let him walk around in bunghole deep snow at night, and he was lost for 45 minutes. He was too small to put a tracking collar on. By 5 months he was running and treeing by himself. The only reason he was sold was that his sire died very unexpectedly at a young age, and his owners wanted something out of him. Super fast strike dog, no reverse, independent, and could keep a track moving, but fell short quite a bit.

I always joked that his speed came from the SS stripes on his toenails LOL!
