In my opinion, I think you should have to get 2 cast wins on the same night. If you don't, you get the chance to reenter the following night to cast 2 cast wins on the same night. If you don't get double cast wins on either night, that's the end of road for this event. Try again next year. I think alot of guys forget that you had to have a 1st place win and equal 100 points to make Night Champion. 5 cast wins to make Night Champion doesn't say ol so and so has the better hound,, it just means they might have went to a hunt within reasonable driving distance on every weekend there was a event to get those 5 cast wins. You can take any dog to enough hunts and make them a Night Champion now days. The saying ,so in so had a better guide, we got dried holed. It use to happen all the time. Go to another event next weeks and see if you got better results. If you don't get better results, you might want to go back to training that hound because they aren't ready to be in a hunt anyhow. I know this message will tick some guys off but the truth is the truth anyway you cut it. The bad news is, probably over 50% of the dogs at the TOC hunt shouldn't be there to begin with. They just got lucky to get 5 cast wins for the opportunity to hunt in it and paid their entry fee. We had a dog qualified for the TOC hunt last year and the dog got in a slump before TOC and I didn't even go to the event. If I don't feel the dog is at it's highest level of performance before these hunts, I flat out will not go.
