Lordy, I believe I'd quit summer hunting if we had a bunch of snakes.. Thankfully up here we have a few Mississauga rattlers and that is our only venomous snake.. I've never seen one in the woods at night, but I've seen several over the years mushroom and squirrel hunting.. My grandfather killed four in the yard one summer when I was a kid and the neighbors moved a chicken house in the spring and found 27 under it right down the road.. We lived next to some of the best habitat in the area at that time and i'm sure it still holds a good population of them.
You all that hunt in them have my respect.. I'm not a snake hater, but sure don't like being surprised!!
Larry, contrary to what some folks, many folks I suspect that do not think Indiania has rattlesnakes, both Massasauga and Timber rattlesnakes are found in Indiania. Massasauga up in Nortern Indiania and Timber rattlesnakes in Southern Indiania. While not as abundant as some states they do exist in Indiania. Dave
