Tar...you mentioned nose and speed and I agree...and I do appreciate it...

You didn’t mention it but I am sure you will agree...i believe that some of these dogs if not most also includes a higher intelligence...the pack gets hung up and confused on a feeder track and it is normal tracking for that one dog...he just knows to circle further down and get on the exit track and be treed before the other dogs line out the track...

These type of dogs make it look easy whether it’s striking or running a track...these dogs are not slow...

Reuben most that I have seen that are superior in that department are drifting swinging out on the track type dogs that only open when moving forward being productive never a bark backwards on track and accurate.

X2, I love a smart dog that drifts a track, swinging back and forth, a dog like that will tree most of the tracks and have the meat when you get there. They learn that they don't have to noodle those cold tracks and by drifting they pick up better scent. It's part of the brain thing a great dog has that separates them from the pack. My old dog that died in Jan 2020 was a master at running old cold tracks, he was a track drifter and deadly accurate. Dave

Dave, I agree...these type of dogs make it look easy...
Hog hunters usually keep dogs that pack up well...sometimes the inexperienced will believe they have an outstanding pack of dogs but in reality only have one good dog that is leading a bunch of me too dogs around...and they will not realize it until they lose their lead dog...
