It doesn't help the cause.

Spoke with my local representative this morning. Luckily she is on our side. She confirmed this is a few land owners making this complaint and their not happy with these trespassers and some cattle getting spooked and knocking down fences.I said this sounds like a local issue so why should the whole state have to pay for this with a new bill.Hopefully more of these politicians use some common sense and see things our way. This representative was impressed with the 39 houndsmen that showed up the other day and hopes to see many more next week.So thank you for the houndsmen that have made a showing so far

That is awesome...

Also...I bet there are laws in place right now that can stop this trespassing that is going on in that particular area...

Dogs

Just as Mr Reuben stated there should be laws already in place for this it sounds like this land owners livestock has been spooked etc. instead of confronting him you should do the opposite and explain to him to find out who is trespassing on his property I guarantee you he can find out who it is and confront THEM because they are causing problems for everyone else. Deer hunters are worse than anyone when it comes to sneaking on someone's property and sometimes I think they try to blame others.

Have spoken with our representative multiple times from down here. She assures me that this bill has no weight behind it and no support from representatives. Although she was not assigned to this committee she has been trying to stay on top of it amd keep me informed. We will be at the meeting on monday and stand up for our right to hunt and be able to safely retrieve our hounds without risking being shot at or arrested for simply trying to get our hounds picked up.

That being said most of us dont want to be on land without permission any worse than they want us to trespass on their land. We just want to get our dog collected and get out. But there are a few bad eggs that give no regard for property owners and their decision to not let anyone on it. We as a coonhunting group need to take a stand and tell these knuckleheads to stop trespassing and quit arguing with landowners stirring them up. I love having the right to retrieve my dog but wish there was a wa to hold these people accountable for being poor sportsman and houndsman.

A good selling point is that most hunters have tracking system and quite a few have systems that can retrieve dogs and prevent them from trespassing...we have better control of our dogs...

I think that is a great selling point in our favor...many non hunters have not heard of the Garmin Alpha...

Sounds to me you guys are making headway already...

HF-2174 Bill is a dead issue this year. The Chairman gave a very good speech about the rights of hunters and land owners and gave us a year to figure it out to where hopefully they don't have to see us next year. Thanks to all the hunters that have showed up to the capital all who sent emails to the Reps and calls to them. With us standing together we have a bigger voice. And to the huge turn out on the petition the Chairman also referenced the petition with over 1700 signatures. Great work guys.
