My best dog I have makes mistakes, he doesn’t open like I like one too, sometimes he might miss one!! He has moments that make me wonder why I even kept him so long and gets on my nerves sometimes. But for the most part he satisfies me!! Probably wouldn’t satisfy you because he’s a big hunting dog that isn’t gonna stop and piss on that 3 day old track. He’s gonna be treed before you so I don’t mind recutting him and walking back to this cold nose dog that done a good job on a lay up!! If he’s on his game I’ll have #2 treed before we get to you!! That’s the kind I like!! That first track you come to is GREAT if you just like listening to a hound. If I didn’t comp hunt that’s the kind id hunt too. BUT...they give away more money now than ever and all you got to have is a dog that trees coons and trees them fast and make very lil mistakes.
I don’t look down on what anybody hunts. Mine won’t suit you and yours won’t suit me. You feed yours I’ll feed mine. When it gets dark we can go hunting together. I’ll go get mine you can go get yours and we can talk about how worthless they are and how someday might have a good one.

Man, that's what I like about you, honest as they come. I feel the same way, hunt what you like and don't worry about what someone else hunts. If you beat me in a hunt, I just need a better dog, I don't care if your dog babbles, trees slick, is silent or any other way, except mean. My dog has a job and that's tree coons, not worry about the other dogs. I will do my job, my dog needs to do his job. If minus points beats me, what does that say about my dog? If a babbles treeing a mile deep beats me, what does that say about my dog? No excuses made from me and none accepted from others. I found out years ago, that life is full of excuses, but excuses are for losers not winners. Dave

See Dave I found you a buddy it's a miracle I did it ! Now you don't have to interrupt my threads y'all can start your own tell each other how great you are and how big dummy's we are lol.

Mine was started because this is rule changes year and I like to make people think. Where I was going was each breed has its own standreds of hunting styles and rules are the way to ensure that they keep those desired traits. The treeing walker breed is all over the place. Now as one of the 85% of ukc's local hunters that pays their bills if we are at a local hunt and only 6 dogs show up do we go home because it is not prestigious enough ? I remember Sombody saying no honey hole advantage now ! Just beat the dogs you draw ! Isent that all you do at a large $$$ prestigious hunt beat 12 dogs for the title sounds like a local hunt format to me ! At the large purse hunts. If Sombody would have quit flappen their gums that's where I was going.

So, are you saying that there is a difference between a good comp dog and a good pleasure dog and a good comp dog is not that much fun to hunt? Maybe that is why "today's" dogs have changed and we need new rules for them. Hunters used to take their pleasure hounds to comp hunts to see who had the best pleasure hound. But with the advent of the big money hunts, some hunters started breeding and training dogs just to win money with. Now we have specialized dogs just for big money hunts so we need new rules just for big money hunts. Maybe we need two sets of rules, one set for pleasure hunters and one set for big money hunters. Maybe we could even have two separate kennel clubs, one for pleasure hunters and one for big money hunters.

Thank you for using what little friend making skills you have to get me a friend. I really don't think you know the difference between a friend and an acquaintance, you use the word friend way to loosely. Most people don't have to many real friends, so I will take all I can get. Tim, a buddy recently sold a granddaughter of Hardwood Bean, she was a Grandnight Champion and a better than average coondog under 2000.00. Dime a dozen was a metaphor, but they are very common. Dave

Coon dog

I have been coon hunting for the last 35 years and you give me a coondog that consistently trees coons and I will hunt him against anything and win my share I never understood the difference between a coondog and a competition dog because I pleasure hunt my coondog through the week and competition hunt him on the weekend and all he does is tree coons!

Any dog that trees coons can win on any given night. I’ve got one that’s won over $55,000 and I’ve seen plenty of nights a pup that would stay at the truck could have beat him. There all dogs. They are not machines!! Just hunt the style you like. KNOW THE RULES AND HOW TO USE THEM!! HAVE FUN!! Don’t take things so serious!! Just calm down and strike and tree your dog and cut up and have fun. A lot of y’all doing to much thinking and your brains ain’t equipped for all that deep thinking.
Concentrate on what’s on the end of your dog lead and don’t worry about what’s on the end of that other fellors!! I promise if you do this you will win more with whatever your leading

This ain't no circus with a bunch of dumb monkeys! Some on here have stuck to the standreds of their particular breed for several generations. Didn't just get a dog and go win money with a money man behind them. Several on here have a had a big winner got on here and reminded us of it every day. Then oh my goodness ole blue was gone we don't hear from them no more.

You ain't got a pocket full of cash or a backer with deep pockets you better know how to breed and train your own. All most see is ole blue is a big winner most don't see that old man setting at home overthinking things lining crosses up just right where you can enjoy and win with ole blue.

I enjoy debating with you Jason

I am having fun lol.

I came up with some familiar names you will know cowboy waltrup, Wayne Haines , John wade, Eddie Richardson, Sam Estep , Ed keonitzer all before I left Alvin tx. They prepared a dog to win and not make mistakes I paid attention what they taught me.

I didn't know you knew Wayne Haines. When I was in high school, I bought 4 pups from him. He had bred his Millie female to Beanblossom Buck. He traveled all over the state delivering pups.
