Larry Atherton

Best story yet, I can see you eating those pickles now. Reminds me of some early teenage days and fighting over a onion we had left on a hunting trip. Lol. Dave

This really wasn’t a trade...but I felt so violated... I was a young man back then...

I had been talking to a man in another state by phone...he said he had too many dogs and needed to cut down...said he had 4 young dogs he would make me a deal on...I was to meet him so I drove out there and mr. x wasn’t around...he had three friends there to meet me and show me the dogs...mr. x not being there should have been a a big red flag...🚩they said he had to leave on emergency...I think he felt too guilty on couldn’t face me is all I can figure...

I bought the 4 young dogs and they threw in another one for free...boy he was a looker and he had all the tools I liked in a dog...so I loaded them up and drove for home with five dogs...three months later I finally culled the last one...it was good riddance...

I had dealt with garbage for 5 or more years and I was going to start my own breeding program with top blooded dogs...and I struck out again...

I turned right around and found another deal like it and all five were keepers...culled down to three that were the better ones...I started breeding my own with those dogs and a few others...so it finally paid off...

Most people didn't even know who Cheyenne Cummings was back then, just a young guy most unless they lived around here didn't even know existed. He wasn't the only one that came from him that were studded out or went on and did big winning back in the day. He has raised and trained dogs since he was a young kid and hunted as hard then as now.
Chey corrected me the parrot mouth ugly not worth a nickel dog was a different one out of Teller that DM had traded on that deal. They still do some trading every now and then. The All Grand one was on a female he called Sally out of the Chester/Sadie cross (one of his favorite crosses of all time).
If JC had known where to look we both could have gotten a better deal lol. I'm glad to hear he was loved and taken care of he was a nice hound.
