Alice lll , Tank and Smokey in training
I loaded up 3 pups and took them for another swimming lesson and also laid the first drag for them using the net with Tucker's coon scent. Best scent I've seen. You can get with Terry on the UKC vendors page to buy his scent. The pups swam and took to the water real nice and as I always do, finish with the net up a tree for them to tree on. If one watches them there is one real thing you can pick out that tells me they are enjoying these training sessions. Their tails wagging tells the true story. I also laid a drag the same day at a new spot. The Glista lake where I swim them. At fisrt I didn't really think they had done that well until I watch the vid a few times and realized that these pups had their heads in the air winding the scented net that was up the tree long before they got close to it and were wanting to tree done wind from it on the first tree they came to. They new they had scent in their scent cone just couldn't locate it so rather than have them struggle , I stepped in to help them out and ended it on a positive note. At my old spot they had no choice if they wanted to tree I always put the net up a tree that is by itself to help the pups in locating the right tree. By doing it at a new spot I failed to do the same thing and put the net up in the woods with other trees around it. Bit of a mistake on my part. Should of known better! I always spray some scent on the tree itself to help them be sure they have it right. When I have the camera on my bipod and by myself it's hard to capture everything. If you watch the treeing video you'll notice 2 things. Notice the leaves blowing on the trees to the right of the pups. Upwind from the tree and their tails are just a rockin back and forth . These pups are enjoy it!! I always have the scented net upwind from where I lay the drag. It just makes it easier for pups to locate it and end with a positive outcome at the end! These 3 pups are ready for some live action at just over 5 months old!! My guess is that they can tree an easy coon as a pack right now. We'll see soon!! Danny G.
