Rest assured I know Kevin knows what a coondog is and I would definitely buy one from him anytime on his word alone. My post was about plus points not anything else. Dave

I completely agree with you Dave but there was a $kc world champ several years ago that won all of his cast with no plus including the final round. Don't remember if he ever scored a coon and then took minus or not.

Thanks for your response, it could happen (yes), but highly unlikely with the calibur of dogs being hunted. I am starting to get real interested in some of the dogs being hunted in these bigger events. I may have to jump into the game if I can find one that suits me. Dave

They can all look common any given night but the dogs that consistently win are extremely good at having a coon. When the dog won it with no plus through all his cast it was being held in a place that is not known for producing very many coon. He kept his nose clean and came out on top of each cast. Not very likely to ever happen again.

X2, I was just talking about that this morning with partner.I've heard over and over how certain bred dogs are worthless trashy ground pounding pieces of crap. Thing is,I dig around a little and these same people bred their pretty good female to certain stud years ago and out of 8 pups, they won over $17,000,and they didn't even know it. We bought in to this great semen breeding only to get shafted. I fought it long as I can breeding to these self proclaimed high minded schemes touting their bloodline is the main reason for these world champion being produced,Popsicle poop.two of final six had similar bloodlines, two final six had same mom. Similar last few years results. The proof is in the pudding. Any hound can win local hunts. There one breed that has dominated theworld hunts for past 20 years, and I'm getting on board, starting now. That's all I'll breed to from now on. I got enough of greatest bloodline that's ever been 30 years old stuff. I'm getting some of the good now stuff.

And most of the dogs on the other side are grnitch. Not many that win big and are consistent winners over there that aren't. I'd like to see the TOP UKC dogs go against the TOP PKC dogs. Just to see how they compare. I'd bet a good chunk of change the group of top dogs would be the same and I'd bet if they really pushed some of the pkc dogs in the UKC world hunt you'd have a different opinion on that registry. And the dog you're speaking of was fighting side.

Actually it wasn't fighting side. It was back in the 90's

Come off some of that money Dave and go buy the right one, I'll handle that sucker for you. These ridges are too steep for an old man to run a high powered dog hahaha. When I get back from PA and off this oil rig I'll give you a call and we'll go hunting. Hope everything is well with ya.

I think the abundance of coon and all the pus points scored at the PKC World hunt was great. I also know there were a few quality hounds that were even past World Champs that didn't even get a cast win. A large hunt with a lot of quality hounds is not easy to win. Takes a good dog, a break or two and the will to keep trying. Do you guys ever stop and wonder why you see the same names of owners/handlers year in and year out at the top of these events. You had a young man there that just won the Youth World Hunt the week before handling a different dog that put himself in position to win this hunt. If he had the same dog you could give the dog a lot of credit. Two weeks in a row with different dogs and you have to give the Young Man a tremendous amount of credit. That is how it is in about every sport. When I turn on stock car racing sunday. Danica Patrick will probably be in the top 20 or 30. Martin Truex or Kyle Bush will probably up front. In each sport there are people that understand it and then there are the rest of us.
Read this board a few days and you will see we are more interested in putting down any observation someone makes about the sport. Than we are evaluating it and learning from it.
Now the beauty of coon hunting is you don't have to be a world champion winner to enjoy it. Then again because you just enjoy the sport you don't have to find fault with those that play it at a higher level. Most nights of the week when it gets dark we are in the same boat.
It is so simple but so hard. Tree coon and eliminate minus points. We all say we have a dog that trees coon so the minus points is what must be holding many back.

Bruce then you get like me unless they have a world hunt for seniors I have no place there anymore I can still prepare a dog to win and in the right hands it will but the grueling marathons are over for me.

Well spoken men. I would like to complete on the highest level, but age and health issues just won't allow me! May have to take my young friend's advise and get myself a handler. I really enjoy watching the upcoming younger guys win, they are the future of our sport. Dave

Just an FYI. Casey's dog that got him the youth world championship title fell from a tree on Tuesday or Wednesday night. Has punctured lung, broken ribs and internal bleeding. If that one didn't fall, he would've been in the mix again. Thor is a good dog just like Joe is. It was kind of a hectic week to be able to know what happened on what nights.

Casey's Dog

Sure hate to hear that, hope his dog makes a full recovery. Young hunters like Casey make me proud, they are the future of our sport. Congradulations Casey. Dave
