Almost all clubs in a 100 mile radius of elberton Georgia have an overall high winning score of atleast 375 plus at almost every hunt. Pkc or ukc and can be confirmed per ukc,I guided a cast last night that made 7 trees and no coon was seen.did not judge the cast either, Not blaming dogs handlers or Spot hunted.It just didn't happen. Takes luck to win and you can't win them all. A 1000 plus score in Ohio may actually be a 200+score in ga on any night. May be reversed depending on time of year,main thing is show up and show out to win. We all have to have luck to do both,showing up and showing out.No different than missing a top 5 at a big hunt saying if I had a better draw or had been on that cast. It is what it is and winners always get it done no matter the circumstances Probably haven't had 2 dead cards in 10 years guiding where I did last night. In the last 6 or seven years I have guided either the high score or the second high score at our rqe and have never had a complaint,no buckets out at all.in Georgia most of us don't measure closed tracks by yards but by 1/4 miles. One dog in the cast had the others leash locked for almost 30 minutes,he should and probably did have a coon,only dog that went over 200 yards to tree all night. but could not score it. More 0!!Based on past hunts the only hound that didn't look lost on the cast being in ga and it came from Florida with a very talented 18 year old woman that did an amazing job Def would not blame the location of the world hunt but the training and quality of hounds also have to come into play as well. Marathon runners don't run a 100 yard dash. But an athlete that has the desire to win will excel no matter what the conditions are. May not always have the best car in racing but dale always would try his best to find a way to win. Winners get things done no matter what is the reason. Glad to see the world hunt here and will probably see a real champion that can tree a coon anywhere. And yes we do have them in ga. Have guided many hunts over 500 plus.

Im going to say I dont think they would dry hole anybody on a world hunt. You have alot of factors that come into play like hunting early this time of year. I live in Tennessee and coons move late in summer and early fall here because of temperatures I think. I agree with Nick a man can make excuses If he wants to but that wont change his dog power. Thats why the call it hunting and not killing!!!

Oh my goodness, they made 7 trees and had a dead cast? And y'all think that it was the guides fault there were so many dead casts. A guide can only put you in coons. He can't tree them for you. And when you tree one, he can't make them look or find them for you. I was a non hunting guide for a cast once that didn't tree a coon. They blamed it on me but on every drop they were struck within 5 minutes.

When 32 of the top dogs from all over the country fail to get under a coon then we really need to come to a understanding as to why. These 32 dogs most likely got under several coon between the RQE and 2 casts at the zones. I highly doubt they all suddenly forgot how to tree a coon. My dog didn't hunt, I will blame nobody but het heat cycle but the other 3 dogs in my cast did hunt hard, they spread out far and wide and couldn't even find a track let alone a coon. To me this hunt is to crown the winner that trees coon the best. If this event was meant to crown a champion over making one get under a coon against the worst odds then I'd say the event was a success. I drove 1400 miles just to see dogs try their hardest to find something that wasn't there. It will without question be my last time making a trip like that.

No matter where the World is held there will be people complaining. I think it's human nature to gripe. Many places throughout the US likely have rough conditions. It's good to see the world in places that don't have 10 coons every 5 acres. To the ones saying they don't like being shafted after driving a long distance, think about those in the deep South that have to drive to the mid West. Be grateful you were able to make the hunt and be proud of your dog for getting you to the point you did. If the same hunt happened tomorrow night it would likely have completely different results. Look at the Super Stakes, you can have different winners each night. That tells you that its all just a gamble. Congratulations to all the competitors that made it to tonight's round.

Here is my little thought I am in east tn s sure some folk got hot buckets and alot of coon on them but majority of hunts u ain't touchung a bucket you better have a hound that will go get treed and yes alot of tune you end up driving but if everyone has what they say a hound that will go get treed somewhere if coon ain't moving then what is the problem with Georgia turn them loose let them do there thing call them right and quit worries about 1600 plus like tar said we all know the better spot wins not the better dog drop mine where the coon ain't you better have something or hope mine gets out of hearing couse it will find a coon and not take 2 weeks to go do it. Good job to the ones who made it this far hey if 25 wins or 1500 wins the best dog aught to have what it takes either way

I know HW we showed up got our free hat at 5:00 in the afternoon when it don't get dark till 8:30 had lemonade listened to soothing elevator music went out the woods were Devine never had to even had to try hard to tree a coon with our below average dogs came back had hot chocolate and appricot frumpys it's easy you should try it next year pure gravy train.

My blue dog won his cast at Ashland zone on Friday with 325 + 0-. He and l both sucked on Saturday and went out backwards. No excuses just bad dog work and a bad handler. I would give anything to have another chance to do it over. I would love the chance to go to Georgia. Just saying.

My granny always used to say, "if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.". If your dog can't tree coons in the South then stay in the North. For the last 2 weeks everyone has been saying that a good dog could tree coons anywhere and the North vs South thing was a lot of bull. But Thursday night reality set in. I guess that there is a difference. And if you and your dog can't compete in those conditions then I guess that you should just stay home. My granny also said once, "if you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch". But she didn't say anything about crying and whining and complaing while you were sitting up there on the porch.

As I said before it's going to take somthing really special to make me drive that far I have made 3 crosses to try and get what I want so at the very least I won't be traveling for three years just going to piddle and have a good time till then but I am about 30 miles from a $$$$ kc we are friends and he at least is trying I think I will support him a while we got a big $$$$ hunt in October 5 blocks from my house .............. Now that's exciting.
