I hunt mine on cats coon and fox. All winter I run fox and coon once in a while coyote and during the summer months I hunt coon surprisingly I have very few cat fox or coyote chases at night when I'm coon hunting at night. I hunt some skuna river and some white trash stuff.

.

Yesterday afternoon it was a light rain and I decided to go out before dark. About 7 PM I spotted this bear moving through the woods.

I like squirrel and coon hunting. I like squirrel meat, squirrel gravy, fried squirrel, and squirrel dumplings.

No, I don't mess with Bear and have never intentionally put a dog out on Bear. I have a friend about 60 miles from me that bear hunts and has several dogs he got from me in his bear pack. FL does not have a season on bear and it has been a BIG conversation for a while. Two years ago they had a season and only still hunting was allowed and only 100 bears were allowed to be taken. The Game Commission has messed this up down here. We have an abundance of Bear and bear all up in peoples yards and getting hit on the roads. Yet the anti hunters think they are pretty and they present their case better to the Game Commission than the hunter can.

I will say this and it goes for every state. If you have an issue with the Game Commission about some regulation I think there is a right way and wrong way to handle it. I feel the hunters should show up in numbers at meeting but they should either hire or have just one or two professional voices speak for them. I have seen a lot of changes in this state and been to several meetings in the past. Hunters are the best people in the world but get to emotional when something is being taken away from them and don't represent themselves well in meetings.

Note: We have a lot of Bear Hunters in the area because GA is only 120 miles from us and they hunt up there. So I deal with a lot of Bear Hunters just never gave it a try.

I hunt here on coon to train and keep the dogs in shape but go west for lion because that is what I love. I will catch a few bobcats but my population around Menard is almost nonexistent.
I do not allow my dogs to run bear, if you do, it makes it tough to catch a lion as there are always more bear than lion unless they are hibernating...and they stink way stronger.
Adios,
Gary
