WidAcre, he's talking about frozen semen, not chilled. Totally different ball game, and surgical or Transcervical combined with progesterone tests are a must.

Thanks, Vic two totally different procedures. Roger, what do you think about this cross? I have been running up and down the road and just returned home at 11:00 PM last night after 5 days in the Navajo Rez. Yuma appears to be bred as she seems to be filling out and nipples are growing just a little. I hope to get at least two males from this litter and I plan to keep both of them in an attempt to raise at least one. I have several buddies wanting females so I am not sure how many if any pups I will have for sale. My wife wants me to sell two pups to at least pay for the expenses incurred in breeding this female. If I have any available, I will be posting on this site as well as biggamehoundsman.
Thanks and Adios,
Gary

Yuma is beginning to show. Since I already have quite a bit of money in this litter, I have decided to wait and see what we get as I can't change it anyway...

Three progesterone test surgically AI $163.00 and 9 pups raised. There 8 months old now. Guess you get what you pay for. Dr. Neil Willard, Girard Ks
Mesa,Animal Clinic. Dr Willard does cattle work for me so it may have been cheaper than a walk in customer. As good as there is in my opinion.

Sounds like you got a heck of a deal. Reminds me of my days as a boy when all my dog vet bills were at no cost as the vet worked all of our cows, horses and hogs.
Adios,

Took her in he put the gyp to sleep opened her up, unthawed the semen and checked it. Then placed the semen. May have took 45 minutes. Most of the time was her waking up.

About the same here. Most of the time was knocking her out and then longer bringing her back around. I hunted her a week later.

Though she is not to whelp until mid July, Yuma is really getting a belly on her. I am guessing in the 10 pup range at this time. I sure hope she's a good mother and can raise them. Between my wife and I, she will get a lot of help.
Adios,
Gary

Yuma had 11 pups, two still born and a runt did after a day as it was pretty weak. Now I have 7 females and one male that I will guard with my life as he is the primary reason for this mating.
Looks like the surgical AI'ing really works if the semen is good and the vet doing the process knows what they are doing.
Adios,
Gary

Vet

Like Blueticker points out I think large animal vets are the best too. Good luck with your litter. Glad It worked out.

Only time will tell how they turn out but should have lots of gas and really be able to pick the head up and run. Not sure that they will be as cold nosed as my hounds but we will see. Lots of the older blood in these babies that I like, Runnin Bullet, Clear River Diamond Jim, Tramp.
Yuma is the best Mother that I have ever seen and seems to be giving plenty of milk.
Adios,
Gary

When I hauled Yuma to the Vet for the surgical procedure, I got permission to video the entire process for CARNIVORE. It is my intention to show the viewing public the length that houndsmen will go in order to produce the dogs that can perform the difficult tasks that we ask of them. Not only will the procedure be aired, I also have footage of the babies and will be the show around a coon hunt.
This show will air later in the season, I will keep you posted.
Thanks and Adios,
Gary

Quite a few folks are asking me how I got the semen from Clear River Diamond Jim. At first, I was hesitant to respond as I was not sure if the owners of the semen wanted to be bothered. I just got off the phone with Melanie Hittson and she said that it would be okay for the public to know that she still has semen from this great hound. Here is your chance to reach back and get some of the blood that produced a lot of really nice dogs.
Adios,
Gary

Only one time here. 9 pups all are still alive at 16 months old. If I never get anouther pup from the Rebel semen I have, the young hounds I have from the cross is worth the expense of collecting.
