Back in the day! This thread would not likely have even existed. Yes we had some hounds that would babble, but we fixed that problem before we took them to a hunt. Sometimes it was with a 22 cal. bullet. Often it was not too hard to stop the babbling. We had no one min. rule to (ALLOW) babbling and that of course helped. Once in awhile they would all open right off the lead and the strike points were split. We knew the difference between a babble and a strike no questions asked. There were usually 30 or 40 guys sitting around at the clubhouse waiting for the last cast to come in and you didn't want to be the one who owned the babbling dog they were all talking about. We set high standards for our dogs back then and no matter how good the dog was if his babbling couldn't be stopped Mr. Coey took care of it. Today a lot of people seem to drop their standards to suit the dog. JMO
