I guess I'm some kind of barbarian or something, I kill them for the same reason my dogs do, because we like it.

Jim,

If you are following the laws it is no one's business. You have the coon population that can handle it.

Each hunter is different. It isn't right or wrong. It simply is a personal decision. Enjoy.

Take a couple a year

We have lots of coon, but I hunt a lot of the same spots over and over. Other people hunt the same spots that I hunt and kill a few. I like to maintain a good population of coon.
Some dogs are way better if not given coon (Mine). Shooting coon out makes some dogs tree happy and you look up a lot of blank trees (Mine). So she gets 1 coon a year and is pretty good about having the meat. It's kind of a fault, but it works good for me.
I read on hear about dogs being bad about slick treeing, I wonder if they would wise up if not given so many coon?
