I have a female out of Cache and a male out of Blaze here at the house.

You might check out the Spud dog out of Uchtman's Thorn and Hank Tabor's Lace female.

He has an ad on the stud page here.

Uchtman's Ranger V

I'd say anything that goes back to Uchtman's Ranger V as close a possible. I saw a pup out of Broad Ax Blue Max run a coon down in a corn field and catch it on a 4 dog Nt Ch cast one night. He was at least 50 yards ahead of the other 3. Ole Max was directly out of Ranger V. It's my belief that's where a lot of the speed came from and most will agree that Max made a pretty big impression with only a limited amount of breeding. JMO.

Max was a nice hound, but not as fast as old Ranger V, or Albert, who was out ofMax.

Ranger/Albert blood is a good place to go for track driving dogs.

Speed

When I owned Ranger V and BJ Mike brought Max down one hot summer night and we cut all 3 together in these Tennessee hills but we got on no tracks that night to compare speed on. It was hot and dry and ole BJ did a good job that night.

Gary told me that BJ was one of the very best hounds old Hawk ever threw.

I believe he indicated that he was about his favorite of them.

I've been fortunate to raise a few of track hounds in the 27 years i've been raising hounds. I started off with hounds that were very track minded. I love a hound that can drive a track. I've had a few that were just two cold nosed for where I hunt. These are the ones that shine in the hunts when the coon are hard to come by. Dual Grand MEADOWOODS BLUE PENNY won the 2014 Battle of The Breeds with her nose power and accuracy.GrNiteChStillwaterfarms Blue Legend born here won numerous hunts he too won with nose power at the Winter Classic. GrNiteCh Stillwater Turbo Blue won King Of hunt at the Ashland Spring Hunt.Nose power and Accuracy.NITE CH Meadowoods Mountain Music Blue king of hunt at ashland. Dual Grand Koosers Billy the Kid And Dual Grand Meadowoods Blue Penny were Queen and King at the reunion in ky. Coon were not moving well. Its in the gene pool no doubt.
A few more went on from Dual Grand Hell Bound Huck Bear hound owned by Ken Hitchcock a real nice bear hound that delivers everything your looking for in a hound. Mike Fairchild Slewfoot hound.another top bear and coyote hound. Andrea s spot hound another and theres so many I could keep on going.
I wish you great success in what your looking for. Its all in the gene pool. Thank You.

Matt, in my opinion you are breeding what a bluetick should be. I really like the way that Slewfoot dog is put together and I understand can really move a track.
Adios,
Gary

Gary, Slewfoot was a very nice special hound. His brothers and sisters were the same way. Not just one in that cross made a top notch hound. That my friend did not happen by accident. I seen hounds out of Ellis Blue Jim and April that was equal to the speed. Not sure about the endurance to run all day. Stinger sire of Slewfoot influenced with the cross of Fly sure put the speed in this cross. Stinger crossed on Lou produced another litter of speedy hounds some of which the running walkers couldn't hold to. Another cross on Stinger that Don Hoefferly made off a sister to Lou produced some top of the line hounds.
We all know that Tree Daddy sure did his part on reproducing top coon hounds.
Stinger on the other hand put the crazy speed endurance in his offspring. Most of his offspring were stemwinders. To much for the average coonhunter. Bear hunters, yote and bobcat hunters loved the Stinger offspring. I've lived it seen it first hand wore my pickup truck out driving across the states pleasure hunting and competition and no haven't won everytime I entered up but I know the cast knew my hound had the right tools and brains, endurance to get it done.
I'm saying its in the gene pool. Track speed and endurance and heart of a hound goes hand and hand.

I've strived to keep and produce top quality hounds tweaking this line since 1989. I've had my ups and downs made a few outstanding crosses a few dud crosses. I don't think anybody thats wants to put speed in there line could go wrong with anything that goes back the Stinger and Fly cross. Legend and Lou cross, Penny and Ellis Blue Jim cross. The Huck dog of Ken Hitchcocks is a top male closely related to Penny with some of Dennis Upsons hounds in the mix. When looking for crazy track speed, endurance to run day after day a hound that will hold up. These hounds and crosses are as good as they get. If your looking for some horsepower go get it.
The good ol internet is a great place to start. But boot leather and chaps is perhaps the best tool for the eye and ears we have. Good Luck and may the track hound survive the tree hugging coonhunters we have today.

NTCH Twilite Rolin Blue LOU

Is a daughter of the Legend dog that I have been enjoying & winning with the last 2 months. She can get struck on a cold track & work it up with the meat like I haven't seen done in quite awhile.
She won Cornbelt Championship by splitting off treeing her own coon late in hunt on Fri. nite & laying 1 up at end of hunt, without saying anything on ground. Then, Sat. nite she worked a track up at end of hunt to win cast with 1 dog covering her after 5 was up. He had no idea coon was in woods till she got it treed.
The night I tried her in Indiana, she worked 2 tracks up under a full moon & treed them that my male dog had no idea was around. She has the nose to tree hot or cold tracks with the coon on outside.
In Oct. at the big week long Cedar River Classic 4wheeler hunt, she won 6 of 9 casts in 5 nights against some of the best $$$ dogs in our area. She didn't take all night to tree coon on these casts as several were 1 hour hunts. All casts were won with + points.
Also won BBCHA state hunt in Sept., by getting treed quick with coon. Take care, Ron.

Legend

I've witnessed with my own eyes, Legend in action as well as multiple offspring from 3 different females. All could SCOOT on the old tracks as well as the good tracks. I loved to listen to Legend as well as one of his sons (Image) run a coon in the standing corn. You could hear the intensity in their voices while they were running low down. Man they could flat DRIVE one out of that corn, and it didn't take very long to get it done. Plenty of go hunting Giddy Up and well above average track speed were common traits in both Legend and his offspring. Like all other hounds and humans, they weren't perfect, but they would leave you smiling far more often than not.

I was lion hunting in AZ last week and my dogs seem to be colder nosed than most. We treed a two lions in three days. I don't know that lions are coons are the best critter to judge track speed or ability. Seems that bobcats on dry ground may be the best way to find out what you are feeding. But what the heck do I know...
Adios,
Gary
