Glad you got a chance to get one of my ol dog's pup's and gave her a fair chance to make something of her self
Wish I would have breed the ol dog more and got some more pup's out there she reproduced good and seems to have passed it on to her pup's in every litter even quite a few grandkids kicking some but in the hunts

Hillbilly x lady was a good cross but I been telling people for 10 years or Moore he threw better females than male's in my opinion at least I think the females where more balanced
Currently 3 out of the top 10 reproducers are out of him so I must have been half right on something for once lol

I believe you! Proof is in the pudding. Rambo II was the same way. His females produced better than the males.

Of all the crosses made in the bluetick breed throughout the course of a yesr, what percentage are truly a quality female x a quality male? I'm talking both male and female being well above average but yet complimenting one another?

And who is to blame for that??
From the looks of this post everybody has a quality female and from the looks of the stud dog page every bluetick male with nuts is a quality stud dog

Jmo but I think it's people that won't travel outside of their region and see if their dog can still compete and win. To me every dog can look good and win where they are comfortable, but travel with them in the box 16 plus hours and put them in country unknown and see if they can win. Not many dogs get tested so everyone has a good one. Not everyone can afford to travel so you can't blame them it just is what it is. Even worse than that is when a dog in the breed does travel and wins everywhere it's cut loose and people that claim they want to improve the breed never breeds to it. Those are the ones you can blame if you need to blame someone. Jmo

My intention is not to offend anyone so please don't take me wrong. I'm willing to talk and work with anyone.

I'll travel anywhere and have traveled many times to breed to the right dog more than once

i'm not going to single some out and hurt others feelings seeing that I haven't hunted with lots of them out there, but I have hunted with some nice dogs the last few years that I think can help in the trait department.

Are we trying to better the breed or Make people feel good about themselves? Should we give everybody a yellow slip after a hunt for participating?

I have not seen that many females named. Who is "everybody"? I named two of mine that I consider high quality. I would put them out there with any hound. I did not name the hounds I own that I consider pretty fair hounds. I also own a pretty nice male. He has nuts too, but I never considered him when I bred my female as I do not believe he is "stud" material. I also own a couple more pretty fair females but never intend to breed them.

Eddie to your point. I agree it is quite different hunting in different terrain. I have hunted a fair amount from Ohio to Florida. But I mainly hunt in South Alabama. As a female owner I am more interested in a Stud that gets it done night in and night out in these swamps and cutovers than one that comes down here one weekend and gets a win. If I lived in Ohio I would be more interested in one that could take a feed track in a corn field and straighten out every night.

I think a little more credit needs to be given to the female owner. I guarantee most of these that have posted their females have not bred to the first stud that came along. A lot thought and planning goes into it for them. Not sure I can say that for all of the "Stud" Owners.

I am willing to offend any one. But is not my intent.

I'm sorry if I offended you....it is not my intent but it also doesn't bother me if I offend somebody....

I'm not looking for a dog that can tree a coon in the timber in Minnesota in 30 below weather with 3 feet of snow and I'm not concerned with a dog that can get cut overs and swamps or Ohio cornfields....if I can't haul a dog to any part of the country and have them excel than there's no need to breed them in my opinion!

Turns into the relativity theory ... everyone's definition of "quality" is different & relative to their own interpretation ..... & it digresses from there to an endless pissing contest.

Even folks who are of like mind in the styles & traits preferred will differ in their definitions & interpretations. One persons definition of bettering the breed will be the other persons definition of hurting the breed.

Seeing with ones own eyes is the only way I know to even begin to broach the subject, & even then, hunting a hound multiple nights in multiple situations is hard to achieve.

An accurate detailed description of any hounds FAULTS as well as their strengths would be a good starting point. Also obtaining unbiased opinions from qualified respectable resources who are not bluetickers is another good source. Odds of seeing those kinds of information & references is probably slim to none.

I agree....if you look at this board and read all these stud adds one would think dam there all top notch hounds.....but in reality it's because nobody will tell there honest opinion cause somebody's feelings will get hurt...and honesty is very hard to come by these days.....

All my buddy's know that I expect honesty about my dog and there dog...if you think my dogs an idiot and you post in hear it's something difrent were gonna have issues and you better expect the same out of me cause I'm not silly winks and I'm not gonna sugar coat anything I'm gonna give it to you how I see it....

Vic-- I agree. I breed for myself and hope to please a few others with a few quality pups.

TDM-- I understand , but I hunt out of state about 4 times per year. I hunt down south closer to 150-200 nights. So my MAIN concern is what they will do here. Everything else is just extra pudding. Again I am breeding to please ME and hopefully a few more.

So you should advertise them as quality southeastern Alabama females?
