Even if you have the time and money to go to a lot of hunts, you still have to have a dog and handler that can win in them. Some people have the time. Some people have the money. Some people have the dog. Some people have the handler. It is a very rare combination to get all four together and it doesn't happen very often.

If I hunted two of my dogs together for 20 nights and one beats the other 10 times do I have a consistent winner or loser ?

If someone gets "In the Final Four" at a hunt and they split, did they win it? Can you count it as "winning a big hunt"?

I'm not sure what Big Hunt you are referring to Richard. The CHKC World Finals was only split for money but they hunted it off for the World Ch. title. I don't know of any final fours of major hunts my dogs have been in where we have split. Am I missing something here?

Sorry Doc, I will have to be more specific. I ran two different thoughts together.

By "Final Four", I was referring to all dogs and all Final Fours and not any one dog or event in particular.

Oh my goodness Mr Marshall, now I have you doing it. If my memory serves me correctly, I stole the term "consistant cast winner" from you so I know that you know what it means.

You are correct, Doc, we all did have the same opportunity that Cali did at the breed challenge. It just wasn't our night. No doubt she is a winner. I have never got on here and downed Cali. She is a good one and she has a handler behind her that knows whats going on. But there are several on these forums that wouldn't know a coon dog if it bit em in the butt! And I promise you, no disrespect, If your money was backing Danno and Tony took him to the big hunts, he would win his fair share! No, hes not for sale, as I stated earlier, Im hard headed and want to do it my way. I guess that's why I started hunting a Red dog! I like being the underdog, and I don't come to town unless I think I have a chance. For the wanta be winners, yall try being the breed leader in the other kennel club for three years in a row then come talk trash to me! lol, and by the way, im not mad I love this stuff!

Yeah, what he said... Now that is what I like to hear. I remember another Redbone a long time ago that was the Breed Leader for several years. But that was back when most hunts were $15 and $25 and I could keep up. I would love to have him back and put him up against y'alls dogs.

Fancy did it again. She won both cast at a UKC English Sectional this weekend. She won her cast on Friday and Saturday. On Saturday she had a good enough score to get her first NtCh win. She scored on 3 coons alone out of 6 we scored during the hunt. We never had a dog on the same tree out of all the trees we scored. It was one of those nail biters.
There was 3 cast of NtCh so she picked up a decent amount of performance points.

I feel she is a pretty consistent cast winner. She has won 8 out of 12 $kc she has entered and 4 out of the last 6 UKC cast. Her parents Boone and Toadie were both consistent cast winners. The tradition continues. I just hope she can carry it over in about ten days. Good luck to all those coming up to Indiana in about 10 days . I hope to see ya there.
