Does "custom cut boots" mean that he cut them with his pocketknife? Does he only have one pair of shorts that he always wears? I don't really think that qualifies for "fashionable".
Is he going to be wearing those shorts tonight in LA?

I'm not sure Dean Miller endorses the custom cut boots. That's from Tmack's creative side. Those shorts have brought him good luck this past year. You can bank on them tonight! 😎👍

I need to cut her legs in half & take some heart out of her lol late round she was 2.3 miles from the truck treed with a coon, we heard her at 1.7 & walked the hunt out to her lol I need to go kill buzzards or something to change my luck

2.3 miles?? Oh my goodness, it sounds like you got dryholed. I would hate to think that I guided to a spot where a dog had to go 2.3 miles to get a coon treed. She must really be loud. I thought that Boone was loud but you can just barely hear him at .6 to .7 mi. She has to really have some kind of mouth to be heard 1.7 miles away.

John, Don was just teasing me..
Alex is 13 years old and has only been coon hunting 3 times..in his life..
But if you want to give Alex a free dog go ahead I will tell him..
Not sure if he will take a dog because he plays a lot of sports and doesn't have time..
Also I do own Tink and I am the one who has hunted her..
To be honest I didn't have to do much with Tink..All I had to do was hunt Tink by herself at 6 months old and Tink was just a natural...
Tink treed her first coon by herself at 6 months and has done it since...The breeder is the one that should get the credit for Tink starting at such an early age..
Born natural dogs are hard to come by and I will say it makes it very easy...All I had to do was hunt Tink 5 nights a week to finish her out and at 10 months old she is finished...That's what fires me up a pup turning the corner and becoming a nice hound.
Tink will get deep and is accurate...I love it..Just hope Tink stays on track and doesn't go backwards..
The next step is the hunts and I believe her first hunt will be the baby stakes....Not set in stone..

Mark, I think that the mother goes out and kills something and then brings it home and lays drags around the den and shows them how to catch and kill to get them started and then takes them out as they progress and get older and shows them how it is done. I don't think that a coyote pup ever just goes out into the wild by themself and hunts and kills anything. I don't know of any wild animal that does that. We expect an awful lot of our coonhound pups. It is no wonder that most of them don't live up to our expectations.

Ive sent three pups over there and you had all of em treeing coons at an early age. Thanks for giving them the chance they needed. As I have said before...you are welcome to a pup from any cross I make so just let me know if you see one you like in the future and I will get it to you. There just aren't enough good houndsmen in this breed who know how to bring whats bred inside...out to the surface in a pup in a way that doesnt create bad habits down the road...but you have done that reliably and consistently. Keep up the great work...me and the rest of the team appreciate you and all the effort you put it!

My how competition coonhunting has changed. Handlers used to want a dog that could/would beat the other 3 dogs that they were turned loose with. Now most want one that goes off by themselves and doesn't care what the other dogs are doing. Handlers used to want a "big score" dog. Now they want a "cast winner". You do a lot more walking than coon treeing. I guess that I am just old and lazy.

So in theory....one could take a just born coyote pup and stick put it on a good coonhound who is suckling a new born litter and let it grow up with those pups and hunt it with the coonhound mother as it grows up and expect the coyote pup to run and tree after the mother shows it how...correct?

I bet a dog like that would have a killer locate!

Ya...in those big money hunts....the cast win is what pays....its an example of the rules shaping how dogs are bred. When the rules changed to reward dogs who treed first and punish the others if they dont get there within 30 seconds to a minute....the goals changed for breeders. There can be only one dog first to a tree...so guys had to breed and train for dogs who would go and get their own first tree somewhere else. Not sure if its good or bad...but if you want to win in pkc and other hunts with a countdown on the tree...you have to have a dog that will do it at least some of the time...
