You were into it deep then. Was your Rem. model 31 set up as a single shot only? Most Outlaw Mods. that were pumps are.

Those side bets can get pretty big at a shoot also.
mac, I haven't messed with much of the newer guns. Seems like they are all made tactic-cool for the mall ninjas now days.

Browning, Beretta, Benelli would be the only three I would look at although I'm sure there are others making a dependable duck gun. I don't have any friends in my fairly large circle that shoot the Maxus. I do have one buddy that shoots the new A5 and it seems to be a nice gun. You see more Benelli than anything else and a few Berettas. I handled them all before I bought one and the Benelli SBE2 just felt the best to me. I love mine.

I need to get myself a 1100 Remington action to put my match barrel in and find me some matches close by . Til I find the action I'll use my 870 which is a pretty fair match gun itself .

It seems to me that older Remington and Winchesters do most of the winning.

THAT MIGHT BE DUE TO THE AGE OF GUYS ATTENDING SHOOTS. ALOT OF THE OLDER GUYS HERE GREW UP WITH OLD 870 AND WIN MODEL 12'S. ALL GOOD SHOTGUNS.

POSSIBLY IF A YOUNGER CROWD WOULD START COMING TO MATCHES YOU MAY START TO SEE NEWER MODELS OF SHOTGUNS.

Those ol' boys that were regulars at the stock gun match would grin like a possum eatin saw briers when someone new walked in with their Mossberg 835 with an X-tra Super Full Turkey choke screwed into the end of it. You could see the $$$ signs in their eyes.

I also watched a girl clean house one night at a stock gun shoot with a Marlin model 55 Goose gun with a 42 inch barrel. I don't know what bothered those guys the most, losing their money or losing it to a girl.

Most of the newer stock shotguns offered now days come with 3 and 3 1/2 inch chambers. Those size chambers don't usually handle the smaller #9 or #10 size shot to well at a match shoot. If you notice most stock shotguns that shoot those size shot real well usually have 2 3/4 inch only chambers, like Rem. model 31's, model 870's, model 1100's, Win. model 12's, model 37's, model 97's, and model 1200's for example. Outlaw Mod. shotguns have 2 3/4 inch match grade chambers in their match grade barrels. Chamber length and choke make a lot of difference in a barrel shooting good.

Yep, seen Win. model 50 and 59's shoot at the matches. They have floating chambers. The model 50 was a better match gun than the model 59 though. The model 59's pattern would fade fast when the barrel started warming up. Not much steel in those fiberglass barrels on the model 59's.

Eastern Gun and Supply Comp. at 1-800-456-0072. They're the folks that make them. They're located at Pearisberg, VA. just off of route 460. Just google Wagner 2-2-10 shotgun shells.
Takes a good shotgun to hold those #10 shot shells together at 35 or 40 yards.

jtd, they will if the shotgun you shoot them from will handle them well. We were shooting them at a 26 yard match and they blowed holes that looked like the card was shot with a rifled slug. Just FYI, don't shoot them out of a barrel that has wad stoppers cut into it. The 2-2-10's don't have plastic wad cups, they just have the shot set on top of a cardboard plug.

You wanting suggestions for a stock shotgun or a modified one?
Stock shotguns to look for are, just about anything Winchester, models 1912/12, 1200, 1400, 37, 50, Super X model 1. Remington models 31, 11, early 870 & 1100's. Either of those brands I listed are with fixed full chokes. Factory screw in choke tubes seem to fade away after a shot or two.

Not every shotgun model I listed will shoot those 2-2-10 shells good, but they're out there that will shoot them good. I have 8-10 factory shotguns here that will shoot the 2-2-10's really well. You just have to try a shotgun to see if it will handle them good. Winchesters, on average, with fixed full choked 30 to 32 inch barrels will shoot 2-2-10's good. Some better than others.

Forgot to add, shotguns need a 2 3/4 inch chamber ONLY to shoot the 2-2-10's good. 3 inch chambers will shoot them but from all I've seen shot, not to good.
